Oh, I get this feeling very well.

With me, it's a little different. Leading up to the interview, especially first interviews with a prospective employer, I am really nervous up until the interviewer asks me the first question. As soon as I start formulating my answer, all the nerves vanish and I am very confident in my ability to answer just about any question. In previous years, I have run into situations where the position turns out to be nothing like the job description, or they have changed what they are hiring for since the req was posted. Those always make me really SMH, and want to bitch slap someone. But I have had plenty of interviews where I felt highly confident, and never heard a peep from that employer ever again. I even had one prospective employer in 2011, get so far as deciding to run a very detailed security background check on me. I requested, and received a copy of the investigation, everything was perfectly as I expected it to be. To this day, I have never heard back from them. :notsure:

So my boss just asked if I could get this big project done today.
I said probably not considering that it’s a short day.
    Silence
I said the Christmas party is today at 2 right?
    Well yes but…
    So it’s a short day.
    Hesitant but agrees.

I guess I was expected to work while everyone else partied it up? :notsure: screw that.

You work remotely too. So you have to log off by noon so that you can make the drive to be at the party by 2, right?

I guess. Or not attend and work until 2. haven’t been to any of the office parties in years. Lame, boring, and even when I did drink I never drank at the parties because I had to drive home. Drinking and driving is a zero tolerance topic with me. Plus there was never any safe food for me to eat so the parties just equaled me standing around awkwardly while everyone else had a good time eating and drinking.

They honestly should have some gluten free offerings as well as any other restrictions in the menu.

Oh, they make sure that there’s vegetarian stuff for the 1 person who needs it. But never anything GF for me.
The last straw and the last company function that I attended was when I specifically asked what food was going to be there and explained again that I was GF. They were happy to oblige and gave me the full menu of the place that was catering, told me to pick out things I could eat. Marked 3 or 4 things off. Party came. Food laid out. Literally EVERYTHING on the menu was there EXCEPT for the couple of things I could eat. So I had nothing. Again. Someone really had to go out of their way for that. I was pissed and haven’t bothered to attend anything since.

I hear you. My grandson has Celiac and he was always left out at the school Christmas parties. Once, he attended a birthday party at Frickin' Chucky Cheese. We informed the parent that he need a GF pizza. The kids were playing, then the pizza came. No GF pizza. I said something to the parent who said she forgot. She mentioned I could go to the counter and order one (not her, the host). I felt like taking our gift back. By the time we got in line, ordered the GF pizza for him and they baked it, the other kids were done eating and on to the next activity. My grandson sat at this big table by himself eating by himself, forced to watch those weird animatronics do their song and dance. At 7 years of age, that's disheartening When we received another invite the next year for this kid's party next year, I tore it up. People can be very inconsiderate when it comes to Celiac, even when they are aware.

i feel his pain. when i was growing up i was sick all of the time and didnt know why. pretty sure no doctor around here even knew what a gluten was let alone to suggest food allergies, etc as a cause of my issues. so i suffered for years. missed out on a lot of stuff because i was always afraid i'd get sick - birthday parties, sleep overs, sports, couple of field trips - so i always declined invitations rather than suffer the embarrassment of getting sick and having to lock myself in someone's bathroom for hours.
super shitty that none of the other kids thought to sit with him so he didn't feel so left out.

Update…I’m very uncomfortable but more irritation than pain. He did a good job fixed by the torsion (twisted image) went from a 30-35 degree tilt in right eye to almost level. Alignment is still off though. Will need to give it 4-6 weeks to see if the muscles will relax enough to allow the image to move up and to the left. Thanks for thoughts and prayers
