I wouldn’t have unassigned the order.
That hurts the customer. Now they’ll just end up with “cold” for waiting for someone else to pick up the order.

I would have parked my truck like asked.
But I’d also add that place to my “not going there again” list.

I’m not saying what you did was “wrong”.
I’m just telling you how I feel about things.

I’ve wanted to quit mid job a lot, but finished only because I said “I’d do it”.
I just never did it “again”.

If it were, it would be that much harder for the corporations to keep forcing people to buy new vehicles.

Once you hear about the TUV in Austria, you'll think California is an anarchy in comparison.

I don't know anybody who drives something carbureted on a daily basis that isn't a motorcycle. My uncle with the 1971 and 1977 VW buses drives a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 and my aunt drives a Tesla; the buses are just toys. In pretty much every other state, "toys" can be registered as antique and be exempt from emissions; California's emissions regulations suck ass...

TUV? Some sort of emissions test? I had a buddy in Hong Kong, and they are absolute dictators about car inspections over there too. Anything pre-catalytic converter is exempt from emissions testing over there, but even vintage cars from pre-WW2 have to get a safety inspection!

Snow on Whidbey Island was a rarity, but I did get a couple snow days out of it when we lived there in the early 2000s...

TUV is safety and regulation. Everything you install on a vehicle registered in Austria and Germany must have a TUV certification before it can be considered legal to use. During inspections they will request to see TUV stamping and documents verifying the parts are valid.

For some reason, I thought you said "Australia"...

I thought that all of Europe was really strict, and I've also read the dashcams are illegal in Austria?!?!

Much of Europe is strict yes, France for instance allows almost no visual or performance modifications of any kind besides wheels (which must be certified for use on that specific vehicle). But some places are more lax, like Poland doesn't give much of a shit at all, most of Eastern Europe doesn't have much automotive regulation

French market vehicles had yellow headlights until about 1993; this dated back to WW2 as a way to tell French military and private vehicles from those belonging to the nazis and other enemies. The aforementioned buddy from Hong Kong gave me a metric shit-ton of Rolls-Royce literature, including a Euro-market sales brochure from the early 1990s that had at least one pic of a French-market Rolls-Royce Corniche with those yellow headlights. Strangely enough, it is in English, so I don't think it was from France...

    @Speedytech7

I think it be much easier to bring a Euro-spec vehicle under the 25-year loophole than move to Europe just for the vehicles...

It took them a long time to realize piss yellow wasn't great for safety since viewing distance decreased a lot. It took the US a long time to change headlight regulations too, we could have done better a lot sooner if we weren't mandated to use sealed beams for so long.

I wouldn't move to Europe for vehicles haha, that'd be like moving to the desert for water. Unlike Japanese market vehicles I don't think the US missed out on much from the Euro market, we've gotten most of the great German stuff, there is no good French stuff, we've had enough British cars to sate weirdos who like broken electronics and failing engines...

When they brought certain Citroen models to the US, the superior headlights were illegal, as the law mandated that we use weak 1940s-spec headlights. I'm pretty sure that the aftermarket headlights on my Taco are illegal in some states...

Can't remember what it stands for/translates to but the TUV is the government body responsible for oversight of vehicles. Every vehicle comes from the factory with a book that specifies literally every part and every vehicle gets in inspected vs that book every year.

Lift or bigger tires than what's in your manual? Fail.

Different fog light bulbs that specified? Fail.

    Bent license plate? Fail.

Basically, if you have any interest in vehicles and driving, stay out of Austria.

Eastern Europe is where vehicles that failed inspection in Germany or Austria go.
