    Good evening everyone,
    I have a question regarding my 2021 SR5 Tacoma:
I am wanting to upgrade my current wheel and tire set up that I am running. Currently I have
PT946-35160-02 Toyota Tacoma 16" Matte Black Alloy Wheel with 25mm offset, Tires are 265/70/R16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's on stock suspension. I am currently looking at the Method Race Wheels 305 NV 18x9 Bronze with black ring with options of -12 offset with 4.5" back space, 0 offset with 5" back space and 18 offset with 7.5" back space:
Tire wise I was looking to stick with the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's with with either 285/65/18, 285/70/R18 or 275/65/R18, 275/70/R18.

And lastly Looking at going with a three inch to 3.5" lift.

My question/concern is mainly in regards to the offset of the wheels. Seeing as the stock offset for the tacoma per a quick google search is 25mm and I do really like the -12 and the 0 offsets. I just want to be sure that if I do select either one of those that it will not negatively affect the truck and components, but rather hope that it will simply give it a cool aggressive look and maintain the integrity of the truck and its parts.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Almost any modification to the truck is going to affect it in some way. Heavy tires, more negative offset wheels, and a 3"+ lift will certainly affect a whole host of different things on the truck. It's impossible to say how any number of your trucks components lifespans will be reduced by changing geometry, adding weight, etc. Most people are ok with the tradeoff, that's sort of vehicle modding 101. Stock is as reliable as it will ever be, but plenty of people find joy in modding and accept the consequences of looking cool.

I'd be more concerned about the 3-3.5" lift than the wheel offset. Most people recommend staying at 2" or less. Toyota IFS gives us approximately 8" of total travel in the front end, stock it sits in the middle with 4" of uptravel and 4" of downtravel. The 8" of total travel, for most cases, doesn't change when you lift the truck, you just change where your truck sits in the travel range at normal ride height. That's also why it doesn't make sense when people ask if they can clear bigger tires with a lift, it doesn't change the total travel limits, fully extended and fully compressed are in the same places. If you lift your truck 3.5", you essentially have 0.5" of downtravel and 7.5" of uptravel, which means you'll likely top out your shocks every time you hit even a minor pothole in the road.

Thank you very much for your in depth response, that is all very good information and will help me in making my final decision. In regards to the lift, would you recommend more of a leveling kit instead of a lift?

What do you want the lift for? Looks? Function? How do you use your truck? Pavement princess? Weekend warrior? Dedicated offroader?

Also, would you think a 0 offset or -12 offset would better in general.

The lift more purely for looks, with light off road here and there like the beach and hunting lease.

You can still go full suspension lift and stay at or under 2" of lift. That would be my vote. Get a decent set of coilovers and go from there. It will be an improvement over stock.

Ive ran OME and eibach and have notjing bad to say about either. My dad is running 5100's on his 2nd gen and they have been great for him.

    Just my .02

So looked at the guide and selected the 2888 coil, and head strong 3 AAL, which gives around 3 inch of lift. Sound like a good setup? Also, is the 3 AAL a good choice or stick with the singel?

I'd go with 885's or 887's honestly unless you'll be adding a bunch of weight to the truck. I only have experience installing deavers add a leaf so I have nothing to say about the 3 leaf from headstrong. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either. Do some searching around the forums before you buy. I'll try and find some links for you

Stock suspension with a 0 offset and 265/70r17 or 265/75r16 all day. A 2+" lift on little tires just looks goofy. I only made it a week with my lift before 285's went on
