Know of one running around here. Good lord it is hideous and so over the top, of course most things are these days.

Was at the grocery store walking in, as the owner jumped out wearing a “Lions not Sheep” shirt. I asked him what that meant, since lionesses do almost all the work in the pride, and lions basically lay around and do nothing all day. “Is your shirt suggesting us men get sugar mommas???” He just gave me a weird look not quite understand the question. Maybe he’ll get it later…

The “premium treatment” could mean a lot of different things.

Fun fact...my wife is a project manager in construction. About 10 years ago they were remodeling a car dealership and they found a room that had been long closed off. I will let you use your imagination on what went on in the room but the satin sheets were apparently still in good shape.

It is imperative that we punish those dealers that engaged in price gouging by going to the dealers that treated buyers fairly during the pandemic..

Nobody is forced to pay over MSRP. Free market supply and demand generally (withing limitations) determines price. Buying a "hot" vehicle for over MSRP is just as valid a decision as waiting for low demand to get a discounted one. You might not agree with that person's decision, but it is theirs to make.

Forming a positive or negative opinion about a dealer based on how they choose to price their products is also perfectly valid. Negative opinions/reviews tend to cause more damage than positive do benefit. In the case of a car dealer, it seems to me that any extra quick bucks they make will be offset by the long-term damage to their reputation. But that's their decision and their problem.

It's not uncommon to see a really hot vehicle purchased at a dealer get flipped for a tidy profit. That's still ADM. And it was possible due to market conditions.

Some people are willing to pay up to get the new hotness. If there were a law that fixed the price, their choice to do so would not exist. Get in line and wait your turn. Even though you think they are stupid for "overpaying" (I do too lol), having that choice is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

Getting emotionally wrapped up in hating and punishing dealers that don't behave how you think they should makes no sense to me. It "costs" you more than it ever will the dealer. But deciding to spend your day hating instead of enjoying something is a free market thing too in a sense. Personally, I would rather focus on something I enjoy and let the market sort it out.

Good Ole Whore Toyota, that place is quite possibly the worst dealer in NJ and that is saying something.

    >snip< >snip<

Since when do we live in a free market? For one, wonder how long manufactures are going to milk “supply chain shortages”, not to mention government meddling, why do we even need dealers anymore??? To get pacified with a free milkshake while they are fleecing you? For how much coin we are spending, they could at least have to common decency to give ya a reach around, wasn’t someone saying something about a dealer secret room and satin sheets…

What would be interesting is, if people didn’t get bored and hung onto their vehicles as long as possible. Toyota pitched the idea in Europe refurbishing vehicles.

Even MSRP is too much. I remember I bought a brand new Camry at $7,000 below MSRP.

Once Toyota cannot sell them and there are plenty of trucks sitting on the lots they will start selling below MSRP. They are too expensive as is.

No one ever paid full MSRP before covid. You could always get a couple thousand off without any effort. Now dealers and buyers act like it’s a great deal to not pay over MSRP. How stupid are we?

I wouldn't even pay msrp now. Everyone should just wait a year or two and I can guarantee you prices will come down.

Absolutely...they are 30 min from me and I go out of my way to not deal with them. So far there is another local dealer not marking up so Shore can kick rocks.

Exactly. People are clowns that think these days msrp is a good deal. Paying msrp is not a good deal.

Meh, I could wait possibly years to get the truck I want, or I could pay MSRP now and have potentially years of enjoyment.

If the money isn’t critical, I don’t think someone is a clown for buying what they want and getting it instead of delaying for some future possibility

Meanwhile how old is your current truck? Don’t be a clown. You can wait a bit more.

My current truck is 25 years old next week. I could wait potentially several more years, or I could buy now any my financial picture wouldn’t materially change. Life is finite.
