He's the head doc of the ER, so I figured it would do me good to help out He also kept a flip phone up until about 3 years ago when we went to a phone/app based paging system for the docs. He is not a fan of technology.

 

work on holidays?

 

Plenty of folks that work in hospitals are married with kids

 

I was more so meaning work on Holidays sorry for confusion.

 

I thought you meant if someone had kids and wife they wouldn't work on holidays............the hospital don't give a shit I worked with a girl one year that cried the entire shift b/c they wouldn't let her off for her first Mother's day.

 

Yea i was saying that they wouldn't work or shouldn't work on the Holidays. I think it would be bad for a relationship/marriage and especially for the kids. Important for the Kids to have memories with their parents on the holidays. I would find a different profession if That's was how my life was going to be TBH.

 

That’s when the plant does some equipment changeovers, everyone gets holidays off but maintenance. And for refrigeration we have to have someone there 24/7 incase of a serious ammonia problems.

 

"Sorry sir, I know you're having a stroke.....but it's Christmas. Come back tomorrow"...........don't know how well that would go over

 

Im not saying everyone.... just people with wife and kids really. If your single like yourself and don't mind missing holidays that's completely fine. I'm sure there are some single doctors out there. I understand that emergencies don't take days off. I was just saying if you have the chance to be off and have a family then you should instead of working if you don't have too. That's why i said i personally would not work in a profession that requires me to miss holidays knowing i wanted to start a family.

 

I'm glad that there are people like you that will work weekends and holidays.
