I feel slighted ... Mothership Toyota is recalling everything BUT Tacoma for airbag issues

Did you get the notice for paint failure?
Just received mine last week, super white 2017. Built/assembled in 2016, I complained about the paint at the dealer 5 years ago and got told to pound sand.
    Btw... it's also 5 o'clock somewhere

Mine is white, no chipping yet. No recall notice yet, but maybe soon.

thats a good thing as long as they deploy as intended. Last thing I want is an entry level tech tearing apart my dash, breaking clips and causing it to squeak/make noises

Wasn't that a reason for a shipping hold round about Aug-Sept? Air bag wiring or some such had to be replaced on new ones? Makes you wonder what went wrong between a March/April build and an Aug build.... unwanted.

I had my airbag recall done a few weeks ago. After I got the airbag replaced the steering wheel clicks when turning it right and I get a random clicking noise deep inside the driver side dash. Brought it in the dealer to look at it and they need to replace the airbag again lol. Such a pain in the ass.

Since it's on the passenger side... I don't care.
And I figure it's better that the air bag doesn't go off if needed, over it going off for no reason.
Not a real air bag fan anyway. My son crashed his Subaru 3 years ago. Not enough to total it, but enough to set off the air bags. He looked like he went 3 rounds too many with Mike Tyson.

Early airbags did not have the two-stage release, so caused serious injury to people of smaller body mass. Newer ones detect the size of the person.

Well, my son's Subaru is a 2018, so not that old... And how does an air bag know if it's exploding in front of a guy who's 6'2" and weighs 230 lbs. vs. a petite woman who is 5' 2" and weighs 100 lbs?

Weight sensors in seat. My 2007 Corolla would not normally activate the passenger airbag. But when I loaded up that seat to drive cross-country it whined and bitched about the seatbelt for the non-existent passenger.

Well, I know there's a switch in the seat so the seat belt monitor knows whether there is weight there or not, but I've never known of one that gauges actual weight so the air bag knows how hard it should blow up in your face. I can't see that. Everything I've ever seen is just an on/off switch. I've yet to see something that is variable, like having a potentiometer hooked up to it in some fashion.
I could be wrong, but I've never heard of it.

Whatever it uses, the 2007 technology knew.

My airbag recall was completed today. No issues and the dealer had the part in stock.
