Who hates chrome?

I don't like it, but I don't hate it either. I"m trying to justify spending 150-200 for bumper shellz

 

Typical Hardly Ableson. All show and no go.

 

Get black ones not white - or give Plastidip a shot first - I never put it on a surface that big but it might work, pretty inexpensive and will peel right off if you don't like it.

 

Clear out that Chrome bumper and the Tails and your truck will be fully matched up!

 

I have only owned my truck for a couple of weeks and I already ordered and covered all the chrome.

 

Chrome is ruined for me. I keep thinking rapper teeth.

Been thinking about doing the same thing myself. I ordered color matched bumper covers that didn't match well so I returned them. Did you paint over the chrome yourself or just order the black plastic covers?

Toyota does chrome better than ‘Merican brands so be grateful for that.

 

Base OR 4X4. No options.
Factory chrome wheels, lights, bumper, emblems (mine are gone), etc.
IMO not worth 3-4K to get rid of it. Stretch for a Pro if that's what you want.

 

Here goes your fake chrome over plastic... rear ended tree during flood, I was reversing below 5mph. Luckily its cheap , I think around 100$ to replace it, just cover is messed up, inside PLASTIC is all good. So gj engineers, it did its job, cheap fix.







I am just thinking should I get big ass steel bumper or just replace it with similar one. I want actual chrome but I don't think there is any exactly like this.

I've got a set of the "chrome" caps left over from my RSI rear bumper install.

 

I like a little chrome…not a lot. I’m not fond of the ‘murdered-out’ all-black look…trying too hard. Generally chrome is relegated to a few areas nowadays anyway. Chrome has its place. I think ‘chrome hate’ is a current trend. But, in the end, it’s YOUR TRUCK, so make it your own.

 

That's alright, just ordered one for cheap 46$ lol. I was so relieved when I looked at the truck and all except that plastic cover was untouched, I felt like huge weight fell off my shoulders.

I do still feel like my Truck is no longer virgin now... I wanted her to lose it in off roading, but well, happened during flood.

 

My blacked out TRD looks stupid with the stock rims. Welp looked, put on some Pro rims and the look is complete. No more chrome shiny stuff.

You can get a set of black ones from rockauto for about $80 each. (last I checked)

 

I get that some don't like chrome, some don't love white or green or whatever. We all have our likes and whatnot.

I gotta admit though, I do love hearing guys go on about stuff that does not affect how it drives or where it can take you.

Had mine for 5.5 years now, and it still has all of the chrome and decals. Makes zero difference to me.

Luckily the chrome and decals have not stopped me from doing 150+ trips like this. I think the chrome and decals make it go faster and help it leap over bigger ditches.
