My dad has been a lifelong GM person, probably because he never had issues so he sticks with them. Most people here buy off of perception and perceived value. They also tend to know everyone who’s ever owned a domestic truck with issues. Funny how that works.

Roof issues are on the Colorados and Canyons without a sunroof.

There are multiple threads on the Colorado Fans forum but here is one of them.

The seat heater comment is false. BMW dropped that test subscription after the negative market reaction.

It's a global economy and global supply chain....parts are all coming out of the same 3d world factories and being rebranded across the industry (i.e. Chevy / Ford same transmission, etc.). With all the tech now in the Android entertainment packages with subscription mandates - personally I think the smart shopper get what they need and skip the brand. I've owned Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Jeep, Volkswagen...they're all about the same. Just my opinion.

(FYI - 2013 JK is the best, most fun, and very dependable vehicle I've ever owned)

    What subscription is a mandate?

I'll be honest, I lost track of all the options...there's good ol' Sirius, Onstar, WiFi, then the live google maps, the app to connect to the truck. It really is endless. Toyota wasn't much better, want to use the app on phone to remote start your $45K truck? That'll be $8/month (then we shut off your truck when you open the door). It is the future business model of all vehicle OEM's, we're a subscription population now (Netflix, Hulu, Apple, Toyota, GM...)

Nobody is putting a gun to your head. None of those are mandatory to drive the truck.

I understand your concerns with the scope creep on all of these subscriptions.

    Just don’t buy them.

I don't buy any of them...thanks for your advice, just responding to a comment pages back about the tech. It's all great until the fees start adding up and half the sh%t in your truck doesn't work if you don't pay every month. It's a consideration when the 4G basic TRDOR is looking to be $50K.

Was looking at the Colorado when I decided to purchase my 2023 TRD. The forums seem to report technology issues and some build quality concerns. The long term resale value and quality of the Taco sold me.

Not that it matters to anyone except me but I just can't wrap my head around paying $50k for any vehicle. Call me an old man, call me a dumb man....call me a dumb old man, but I just aint planning on doing it. I'm hoping for 200k from this truck (roughly 6 more years) then I'll seriously consider something like this.

    Or an AMC Pacer,...whatever.

so a slight update to my dilemma, i was able to get a deal on a Tacoma TRD Sport for my out the door price @ MSRP (44,095) of a 4WD + AWD + 5 ft bed, with 14" infotainment system. However, after calling chevy I also got a deal on a Z71 for out the door fully loaded Z71 for 42,499.

Good deals can be found out there folks. Election year is coming (not to be political... just that economy spending always goes down due to uncertainty.) please no political comments.

I think your numbers are off. A ZR2 (ZR1 is a Corvette btw) fully loaded is not selling $10,000 below MSRP including tax.

Ha ha all good. I was about to start blowing up your inbox for the dealer who was taking $10k off a ZR2. The price for the Z71 is great too!

I'm heading out drive a zr2 tomorrow. They are hard to find in my area. I have a deposit on a new taco but if I like the zr2 I'll pull the trigger. I do more serious wheeling than most on here. The more tacoma posts I look at the more it feels like the tacoma has turned into a "lifestyle" truck. I miss the old Toyota pickup days of draging them over jeeps through the rubicon and Fordyce.

I’ve drove the Canyon so has the 2” lift and HO motor. After driving the Tacoma, the Canyon definitely pulls much better, I bet any towing would be much better. Also the finish inside was much nicer, way more legroom for driver and passenger. The packaging on GMC and Chevrolet sucks so bad. No adaptive cruise standard which I love. The truck I test drove had no tow package and it was $48 or $49k? Would love to drive one back to back to a 4G.
