I have a 2000 ZR2 that I daily drive, it has rear discs. They are absolute garbage.

Rear Drums are the way to go if you own a pickup.

Rear Discs are the way to go if you own a dealership, repair shop or are a mechanic. Easy money.

the last place i worked had a fleet of gmc savana/chevy express vans, all with rear discs.

never got more than 5 years out of the rear caliper assemblies until everything locked up, wore down the non-visible inner pad with no warning, which then screwed up the rotors, all to the tune of about $2-3k in a complete overhaul every time...

I get maybe 2 - 2 1/2years in the rust belt before one side or the other grinds to a halt. I keep a full set on the shelf and just throw everything away from the brake hose on. I get this kit from autoshack on ebay. Same parts I would pay twice as much for over the counter at advance or oreiley. I just did the drivers side a couple weeks ago.
