What does it have for a fork now? I have to imagine my Rockshox Recon would be a downgrade from whatever Santa Cruz slapped on from the factory.

I like the spirit, it's almost above freezing today..... a little warmer and I will take it off the trainer. Hitting a patch of ice again is my fear.

That could be fun on a road bike! Sounds like it's fat bike and studded tire season where you are!

I used to have one. They're sweet forsure.
My only complaint is that I wish it had a strut or something to assist with the weight for when you want to tilt it down full of bikes. Otherwise you just have to muscle it up while you move the pin into the lower position.
That and with my high clearance bumper, it stuck above the roofline of my truck like a spoiler.

I ended up getting rid of it and getting a 1up because I didn't need the capacity for 7 bikes when I only had 2 seats in the truck :jpow:

No road bikes in my future. The gravel bike is more than enough and I'm in the same boat - another bike would be used to ride my ass to divorce court.

However, I am very curious how much faster a road bike would be for an average speed compared to the gravel bike on pavement. If going solo and really am focused on pushing hard, I'll average 16 mph with decently wide all terrain tires. Would like to use a dedicated road bike just once on the same pavement loop to see where that number ends up - it would surely be higher, but no idea by how much.

Could test it by putting a pair of road tires on the gravel bike, depending how big or knobby your gravel tires are, could get most of the way there. As I know my 35 knobby gravel tires are super slow are on the road.

That is the intended route once I burn down my current tires - want to get a more hybrid tire that has the smooth center strip for asphalt. Unfortunately my gravel bike is a pig and not a lightweight machine either - with smoother rolling tires it would help the typical drag resistance. The geometry, frame material, and components are definitely not suited for max speed on the roads.

I have been looking around for a 700c wheel set that could be used for skinny road tires but it almost feels like I am going the 'jack of all trades, master of none' route with the bike. My current 650bx47 gravel tires work great on fire roads and mellow single track; the tread pattern and width are not suited well for road riding. Really don't care about having maximum road speeds, but I follow enough guys who are road riders and can average 19-20 mph. More curious how my legs would hold up at that speed with the proper bike.

I feel like the same with my gravel bike "jack of all trades, master of none." Not beefy enough tires for singletrack "safely" and not skinny enough for road commutes. Almost want to buy a cheap set of wheels and swap them back and fourth with different tires.

All the mountain bike guys I know that try road riding do pretty well, I find MTB riding needs more punchy short-term power, where road is more power over time.

    Great looking Levo!

I have shoulder surgery coming up in the new year and I cant wait to be able to ride without the fear of dislocations again.
