I hope that bubble bursts. We definitely see serious weakness at full-size. At the prices they’re asking for just the 2.4T for now at least I’m not the guy Toyota’s looking for.

Meantime, the sad reality we seem to be stuck in is that so as long as there’s a bank that’ll add another 12mo to someone’s loan, Toyota will have no trouble clearing two factories.

That weakness in the fullsizes might lure a bunch of people out of the midsizes. I have been on the cusp of needing a full size, sure many others are too. Stayed in a midsize because it was the sensible thing to do at the time, doesn’t look like the case here in the near future.

$50-60K for a midsize truck is never a good deal. It’s not a good deal for a midsize SUV either. You’ve been brainwashed.

In addition the fuel savings isn’t that big of a deal to me. Even if you drive 15,000/year and drive a full size getting 17mpg vs a Tacoma getting 23 you’re looking an extra $11/week in fuel. Hopefully everyone here isn’t affected by $11 week. At least to the point that we can’t afford groceries for $11.

that’s where I’m at. I really really want a TRDPro. But if they are priced in the high 60’s I will definitely consider a larger Truck for less money.

It’s only wrong according to the government. The customers are happy with the product they purchased.

Literally every law is only wrong “according to the government.”

but to say Cummins “got shafted” because they intentionally violated the law is laughable.

Not too too concerned about the money as I drive between 20-25K/year. If I was, would be in a Prius. My buddies in their 1/2 tons are getting 20-21…which is exactly what my Tacoma gets and I have to a baby it to achieve that.

If you can get a 1/2 ton cheaper why wouldn’t you jump ship??? unless of course you’re a shitty driver and can’t park a full-size. :D :p right @woodsy? :)

High 60s…wouldn’t even bother with a Tacoma Pro, would do a Chevy Trail Boss diesel. And this is just website builder, most likely find it cheaper as prices fall.

the trail boss is a WT trim truck. They’re not exactly comparable on features. Why wouldn’t you cross shop a lower trim tacoma against it?

That trail boss is an LT, its a package you can get on WT, LT, LTZ. Similar to FX4 which you can get on an XLT, Lariat, etc.

Bomnin Chevrolet in Florida is a giant price whore, they’re taking $14,000 off 2024 Trail Boss trucks. Disclaimer says everyone qualifies, add $1,400 for fees but you’re still looking at a loaded TB for $54,500.
Lot of truck compared to a Tacoma Off Road

With both pricing and fuel mileage pretty much the same full size seems like the better decision now.

Thanks for the correction. Is the transition to TB as a stand-alone trim coming to the Silverado the way it did the Colorado?

There really isn’t any. Anything sub $40K I guess, but have to give up some conveniences/features. Though even the base models are well equipped these days. Most of the features in my base SR I have turned off. Do like those power heated mirrors, and the nav screen. It has been so foggy here lately, I’ll turn the map on to see when intersections are coming up.

what Buffy said, that is a LT.

That is not how I shop, like to lay the money out on the table and see what I can get for said money. I’ll give up or gain features with different platforms.

I cross shop anything from Subarus to 1 Tons and lots of platforms in between. Each will do the job I need it to do just differently.

Do find the general Tacoma buyer/owner on here refusing to cross shop anything else a bit odd.

Midsize truck market follows Tacoma, and Toyota is attempting to re-set what is a fair price for a midsize truck. So far majority opinion says it’s a great truck that’s too expensive. However, if 250k people next year buy a Tacoma, then there’s a new fair price structure. And the other market players will follow suit. If sales fall short in ‘24 or beyond then (see: Gladiator) incentives will dictate the real fair price.

Reading the tea leaves within a softening full-size market (including Tundra), I’m betting on my future Tacoma hybrid having fat incentives. Either way, there’s no reason to dive in deep water this early.

Unless your stupid like me. So I'll pay sticker for something that will likely be discounted $3k this time next year.

It is quite a bit more truck than the Tacoma, why wouldn’t you choose the full-size? I am finding Tundras in the low 50s if one must remain loyal to the brand.

At the time I a bought, full-sizes didn’t make sense. Now they do. I almost ponied up to a 1/2 ton last time, won’t take much convincing next go around. While I don’t hate the 4G Tacoma, they went backwards in a few areas for my needs, that I have no desire to run out and buy one.
