Can anyone tell me of any issues I might run into if I swap my 2023 SR5 grille with a sensor in the emblem to a 2016-21 TRD sport grille with the emblem removed? I have heard of issued with the TSS and with the emblem having a different mount. Any info appreciated thanks

There are several questions buried in that question.

Will you run into issues if you run without the sensor? Yes, you will generate dashboard error lights that won't go away until you fix it. You will also have limited and/or no function of a number of systems that use that sensor. If your car requires an annual inspection, it will be an automatic fail due to disabled safety equipment and error codes.

Can you swap grilles from any Tacoma from 2018 to 2023? Yes. Keep in mind that (non-pro) grills from 2018-2021 used an additional bezel ring to mount, where 2022 forward no longer use that ring. If you buy an older sport grill, you will need it.

Can you swap sensors between sensor compatible grills? Yes. It's done frequently and without issue.

Edit - if you want the emblem removed, either cover it in vinyl or buy a grill that does a better job at concealing the sensor. You can't outright remove it- it's a low density plastic shield that needs to be replaced with similar.

Was just looking into this. My local dealer has an OEM grill for 280.... but they claim price for the Garnish is freaking 483 dollars. I asked if that was a mistake and he quoted for the garnish with the sensor... but no... out the door over 800.. I figured I would get the Oem grill, IF i can pick up the Garnish for much less.... that just seems crazy
