    I definitely don’t want or need a full-size. I really don’t even need a truck anymore.

No I agree. I’m talking relative bargains for people who actually are willing pay those prices plus markups for a small truck.

Zero chance I’d give up a 47k Tacoma one year later for a 55k+ Tacoma, even after weighing Gen4’s significant improvements. I’m actually brainwashed on the idea of keeping a truck I already really like while pocketing the 8k extra cash until at least Toyota offers some heavy incentives in a year or two.

Ditto. My loaded 2021 was just over $41k. I am not trading that killer deal for a bad deal.

That’s pretty nice. But if I go that route, I really need a Mercedes Sprinter all tricked out or a motor home for my lady and dog. Debbie can’t handle sitting in any car seat for very long so I need a luxurious land yacht for long trips.

I am retiring here in a couple years. So looking at everything from trucks to vans, to SUVs/Trailer. Do love to look and cross shop weighing the pros and cons. It is a constant thing if you can’t tell… lol!

She wants an Airstream. Which if I am honest that is probably the best compromise. One thing I do not like about a truck camper or van, is you’re stuck with it if you want to running around. Trailer you can drop it, then go exploring. I am not the one for sitting at camp twiddling my thumbs. She can stay at camp doing her thing, then I can run to trail heads and fishing holes.

It is indeed laughable, given how much environmental damage has done and continues to do. Dunno, seems a bit hypocritical…but that is just me. Kinda makes whatever Cummins has done feel like a drop in the bucket.

If you add up a lot of drops, it’s a significant amount in the bucket.

At 50K + tx. and dismal fuel economy for a new Tacoma I think I will opt for a small suv and a utility trailer. Suit my needs just fine .

Because Chevy and Dodge are garbage? I would never touch one of those 2 ever . Constantly ranked in the unreliable category

Toyota Hawaii is separate too, but gets their trucks from Mexico also.

Toyota Hawaii doesn’t even have a build section, period. You have to go to a dealer and choose from like 3 options for the OR from a sheet of paper and you get no choice to add any other packages.

HI Toyota (Servco) Still lists the ‘23 Tacoma as the current truck with ‘24 as an upcoming vehicle.

HI gets shafted like Canada when it comes to options.

Think dropping two H-Bombs leveling two Japanese cities pretty much trumps that, not to mention all the nuke testing…among countless others. Just the resources needed and the amount of emissions expelled to keep the military going all these years. I mean… is what Cummins does really all that bad? How many Cummins engines does the military use anyway? Ok for them, but not ok for the public? So they fine them, ummm ok??? Not the first time the government being hypocrites.

For how much turn over people on here do, does it really matter? Seems like they don’t even get out of warranty before the majority of buyers get bored and trade in on something else. Why not get a more capable truck?

I could certainly make that work, as I already have to augment the Tacoma with a utility trailer. Run a topper and basically use it as a giant trunk.

Base model Subaru Outback is low 30s, better mpgs, cargo area is 6’ deep, 3500 lbs towing. Would accomplish the same thing what my Taco does now, and for cheaper. Be a bit tight for traveling, could always take less shit to fix that.

I get 24mpg every time I drive 200+ miles. It’s not that hard to do.

It seems as though I get better mpg whilst towing my 5k lb TT than most overlanders do.

I’d love the new Tacoma but in reality I will likely get a Tundra because the value will be greater to me with the current pricing.

It is fairly easy to get decent mpg (for what it is) don’t drive like an idiot.

What I paid for the 3G seemed reasonable for personal perceived value. (still think is a little too much, but I am a cheap SOB) What the 4Gs are going for, not so much, more value to be had in the 1/2 Tons. Thankfully I don’t have to worry about fitting it in a garage, and my parking skills are certified top notch! Just ask my wife! :)

A million diesel engines putting out excess emissions is pretty significant, yeah. You can whatabout your way right into nihilism, or recognize that we have a complex problem that requires complex solutions. Nobody is going to tell you that Cummins diesel emissions are THE problem.

THE problem is big and multifaceted and requires a big and multifaceted response. Either way, Cummins was not treated unfairly in this situation. They intentionally violated laws they knew exist.

It's the headaches before the warranty is up . I see ppl complain all the time about not having their trucks for weeks or months

At the end of the day I’d bet all vehicles, especially $50-70k trucks, Tundra, Tacoma, Silverado, F150 are going to move like molasses in 2024 without rebates, incentives, 2.9-3.9% manufacturer financing and dealers taking off 5-8%.

I’m already seeing dealers going straight MSRP on 24 Tacomas and 1-2k off on RAV4, which seemed impossible 6 months ago. Then again, Toyota can be Toyota and game supply with fake shortages. But I am getting the sense the car market ran out of buyers gojng out of their minds with FOMO.
