I got heim boots, live in the Pnw and kinda daily drive mine. I’ve only put them on my panhard so far and they seem to keep all the water out and there’s no corrosion on them yet. I’ll do the rest of my links when they wear out since I don’t wanna tear my junk apart right now haha.

Has anybody tried to just let them sit in some almost boiling water for a few minutes?

All done and headed to 454 Motorsports for axle truss, coolant hardlines, and some other small stuff. Shoukd have it back by the 1st or 2nd week of January, we’ll see. They’ve been pretty busy recently it sounds like.

Me! And they are a total bitch to put on. But very much worth it. 2 seasons on my steering heims and zero play or noise to speak of.

I used those to add boots when I replaced the heims in my JD steering after killing them in a year, made the install very easy, would recommend.

I used to use boots on buggies and it would really shorten the life of the joint...

But I did a lot of mud/water... Because east coast :annoyed:

Maybe it works better in drier conditions?

Im in about as wet of conditions as possible. I used one size smaller than I was supposed to and pumped some grease in them. The proper sized ones weren’t very snug.

Mine couldn't have lasted any shorter lol, so thought I would give them a go. I can't get more than a few months to a year out of a heimed joint anywhere on the truck, uniball UCAs in the front I actually get a few years out of though. I finally swapped all my link joints to Ballistics, I was so tired of throwing money and time down the drain on swapping joints, the steering are the only heims I have left on the truck. This is in Colorado, while not sloppy mud all the time, I do see a fair amount of water.

Run one size small on the boots. They are a total bugger to get on but seal super tight. “Proper” sized will surely allow water and dirt to enter.

Not really LT questions, but I figure this group would have experience with these questions:

    1. I bent the kickout end of one of my sliders on Rubicon (bad enough that it hit my bedside, rebounded back down, and had to be BFH'd so I could open the passenger suicide door). When I replace them (swapping bolt-on for welded), I want to reinforce the kickout end, but the frame kicks up around where I'd want to do it, and the front leaf shackle is in the way otherwise. Is running a diagonal support from the rear of the kickout to the frame forward of the shackle worth the effort?

    2. For lower speed use (maybe 50mph max on washboard and lots of slow crawling and 10-20mph fire roads in the mountains), is it worth it to box the rear end versus just continuing to stick with the extra cross-member I have tieing the shackle hangers to the OEM spare tire cross-member?

Those are pretty dope, but it looks like there's a big gap between the tail end and the rear wheel? Or is the "extra 4 inch" version with the kickout addressing that? Either way, they look pretty awesome, but I had just planned to buy another pair of BAMF sliders at about half the cost and modify them, if possible.

The main thing they address is reducing leverage on the frame and giving one a flat surface. As far as the kick out it would be best to call them. I have yet to see them in real life but I will plan on going with aluminum versions. But I still have some question when the time comes. Was also trying to point out that there may be other ways to address your questions.
