Hey guys I’m new to TW but I’ve used this site for a bunch of research, I’m looking to get 33s and regear and also get a lsd on my sr5 prerunner, there’s a guy on market place that has a 3rd member that is geared to 456 and also has a lsd, same year but it’s a 4x4, could I still use his since mine is an open diffential?

the only one called 8” is elocker from an OR with an actuator on it.

others are called 8.4 and come in numerous vehicles.

they do not have an elocker actuator.

the factory LSD is not that good. Especially when putting bigger tires it wasn’t designed to work with.

One option is gear ratio you desire, and better diff. There are many. Helical LSD, torsen LSD, locker, etc

ahhh thanks for the correction, I was looking at my door panel sticker and it says I have A04A. So I’m not too sure if you could swap a 4x4 differential to the 2wd one

there are two rear diff types
    8" and 8.4"
    regarding size
    many are 3.73
elocker (actuator) 8", open diff 8.4, or mech LSD 8.4 (red sticker)
    (stock)

or occasionally something like gardener spec truck (SUA housing) might be also 8.4 (because not elocker) but 3.53 ratio vs common non-gardener-spec 3.73

having a front diff means 4x4
    doesn't matter if it's 4x4
front diff 4x4 doesn't change what is in the rear
