Are there two different belts on supercharged 09 tacoma, can't seem to find the tensioner pulley for belt that runs alternator. Where can you get a rebuild kit for that alternator

Just a suggestion. You may want to post this under your truck's generation. Will help with those who are doing a quick scan of topics.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Belt for the alt is the main serpentine belt. It has nothing to do with the supercharger. The serpentine belt only has one tensioner for the whole system. Just look for serpentine belt tensioner. The only
problem you will have is the supercharger belt system must be removed in order to gain access to the main belt. There is the serpentine 2 idler and tensioner bracket for the supercharger to remove and a supporting arm coming off the alternator that must be removed. Hopefully I didn’t make this more confusing for you.

You would be better served opening a phone book and calling your local Toyota dealer. Provide the details of your vehicle and let them provide you a part number or go into the shop and they can point it out on a parts diagram for confirmation. If you cannot click the hyperlink text above then this relationship probably isn’t going to work out for either one of us. May God have mercy on your soul and I wish you the very best in getting sorted. Merry Christmas.

I have the diagram of the pulleys and have the belt on all ofv5hem I just can't find the one that moves so I can get the belt on the alt. After I get b it rebuilt. There are 9 pulleys is it that hard to tell me which one moves to release the tension on the belt

The one they say is the tensioner has no way to get a wrench or any other tool on it to move it from what I can see. Maybe I'm just stupid but I don't think that's the case

The tension pullies are obviously not a part that sticks out like a sore thumb. If you have clear line of site put a socket on them and see which one has spring tension. If you stare at them long enough you’ll have an epiphany.. I believe to release tension you need an Allen socket, you see any Allen’s on them wheel arms?

Step 1: Buy or borrow a serpentine belt tool

Step 2: Don’t put a socket on anything.

Step 3: Stick the 1/2” square part into the red circled receptacle pictured below. It will be facing the radiator.

    OP, honestly

dealing with the belt drive system is tricky.

There's a lot of pulleys. And they are different. Something to consider when ordering parts, to have all the right stuff.

In my case, I think I did all of the regular pulleys (ie, not alternator, etc.) Haven't looked into what's available to "rebuild" alt pulley, A/C pulley/clutch. Probably complicated and tricky, but might be worth it to save money not replacing the whole things, especially considering compressor replacement requires expensive shop tool R134a machine.

Anyway. One thing to note. I believe the tensioner is hard to get to. From what I recall, it's layered deep in there on the side, sandwiched behind maybe the alternator and motor mount, or A/C compressor, that I believe has to be undone and moved out of the way to reach it. To replace the actual tensioner unit with spring inside of it.
Like many big bolts from awkward angles, including the side.
So that I did not mess with, just did the front pulleys to make it quick as that's a lot more straightforward. Did tstat and WP pulley I think at the same time. Same deal with WP and coolant replace, I'll do that later. Just preventative maintenance.

^wait what the heck is this pic "UPR" is that some sort of fancy better upgraded part?

Yes, the joys of the supercharger aren’t great sometimes. You have to get those pulleys, belt and alternator support bracket out of the way to change the main serpentine belt.

Yes I have half the truck taken apart, I'm going to go back out today and see if I can get one of those pulleys "there is only 9 ofthem" to move so I can put the new alternator in, I was going to rebuild the old alternator but I'm so tired of tearing the whole truck apart to get it out that Isaid the he'll with it and went and paid the ridiculous 200.00 for a new one, now all I have to do is to get one of those pulleys to move so I can get the damn belt on the new alternator. THANKS FOR YOUR REPLYS IT HELPS TO BUILD MY SELF CONFIDENCE. LOL
