What sold it for me was the:

Bringing the journalist to the commissary for baby wipes and dip
The shitty weapons problems
The dumb ass O's and and NCO's bucking for rank and kissing ass
Tromley.....cause every unit has a Tromley (psycho MF'er that can shoot)
The moooooostache competition
And many many more little things

They pretty much hit the nail on the head with that show.

 

Generation Kill is one of the best. Out of all the episodes the one thing that I still remember is during the ending credits of the last episode there is a voice over that says the following statement:

"We're sitting here fighting for your freedoms. You got the right to say what you want. We got the right to punch you in your f***ing mouth if we disagree."

 

It was based off a series of real Rolling Stones articles written by the embedded Rolling Stones writer.
If you like that kind of writing there was a kid that tried his hand at blogging his experience in Mosul during the war, his name is Colby Buzzell and he was... 25th? I forgot the unit. Anyway, his blog series was published into a book. It's titled My War: Killing Time in Iraq (after the song by Black Flag)

TW, we have an unaccompanied veteran, David Lynn Zirkle, that recently passed away. David was a seaman recruit in the U.S. Navy from 1961-62. Unfortunately, no friends or family could be located.

The service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 11 a.m. at shelter “B” at the Dayton National Cemetery, located at 4400 W. Third St. All are welcome to attend.

Please support so our brother does not go alone.
