Merry Christmas to all!! I must clarify!! my tailgate deer pic was only for the pic on new truck!! After pic I slid it back down & onto 4 wheeler trailer like normal, I was by myself & I’d NEVER attempt it again but so glad I did! I had to wrestle it up on wheeler then transferred to tailgate. My first attempt was thwarted by habit of leaving wheeler in neutral, the deer slid through the gap between tailgate & wheeler rack to the ground. It was quite comical but still worth the trouble as the Tacoma deserves to taste first blood

Keeping a ramp in the bed is a good idea I need to do as I get older.
Hunting solo for the most part on public, it's getting to be a struggle.
I usually bear hug it and get the front half up.

Couple years back, I shot one pushing 200lbs.
Actually had a couple joggers going by and offered their help.(I told them don't touch those Tarsals, lol)
Not very usual in the occupied territory of Ct.

I almost always hunt by myself so I keep my 4-wheeler ramps handy and to make loading a deer even easier I use a jet sled. Just put your deer in the sled and push up the ramps.

    Merry Christmas!!!

I've always grabbed ahold of a front leg, squirmed my way into the bed of the truck (while holding onto that leg), then grabbed the other leg and pulled it up. These days I'm thinking I need a step to get into the bed of the truck, thats the hard part.

    Merry Christmas all.

I got to get away this past Friday to hunt. The morning sit was great. I saw two doe, a pile of turkey, a small split fork and a nice young six. My freezer is looking good so the six got a pass.
    IMG_7511.jpg
The evening sit was fun as well. I hunted my cypress swamp stand. I usually have turkey come to roost in the evening. I hear and see a few hens crashing around. Then I see one hen try to land, miss and fall in the swamp. I’ve never seen a turkey in the water, but I guess they can swim. By the time I got my phone out it had climbed onto a log lol. It flew into some thick brush. It’s gonna be a long night for that hen. I saw a few doe on the evening sit and that was a wrap.

I was able to whack a small doe to top off my salami stockpile so I’m pretty much done deer hunting but I’m trying to get a gobbler in the late archery which goes until 1/7/24 it’s tough as you have to get in there real early & basically hope they are roosting close, then the dice roll really begins. I enjoy being out there & will post pic on the tailgate if I’m lucky enough to get one!! It’s been so mild they are strutting

Alright Christmas is over and I've got the week off, headed back to the woods. I've taken a few weeks off from hunting to enjoy family time and our last Christmas with one kiddo. It's been a wet winter so far, with highs in the 70's I'll be fighting skeeters for sure. Good luck to everybody still at it.
