Your de-laminating only happening on higher layers, yeah? My thoughts would be too much fan cooling, or possibly needing to calibrate your stepper motors, if it’s a little high for each step then over time that adds up to too big of a gap per layer to stick? Wild ass guesses though. Sometimes some spools just are giant PITA’s

Yes, higher layers, and only on silk. I have been reading that this seems to be a common problem amongst certain silk colors. My observation is that one layer doesn't want to bond and will curl up, causing collisions and further delamination. You are probably right, its cooling too quickly. Its a big print so its suffering the temperature swings that the house is going through this time of year.

Well its not the color I wanted, but the PETG version turned out alright for the upcoming white elephant party. Fiancee is already arguing that she's going to try to win it back.

Try using blue tape…. Also, do you clean the plate often? I use rubbing alcohol on it when not using the tape. Oils and other materials build up on it after a while and make it less sticky.

other than that, how is your printer doing? I just got a Ender 5 pro on Black Friday- still have to put it together. Planning on making a Mandalorian cosplay costume with it, or maybe a bunch of noodles.

I printed a PET case for an electronic altimeter that I mounted on my overhead cluster, but it has warped from a couple years of summer heat. Would PETG or ABS have been a better choice for this?

    Either.

PETG melt temperature will be over 400F, deduct about 100 degrees for service temperature.

My overhead switch console is PETG, it does fine. ABS is an even higher service temperature, but again a hair more finicky to print.

I've gotten PLA to soften and warp at 200 degrees F.

Only downside to PETG is its tendency to creep if under load.

My altimeter is a very small circuit board and screen, so there won’t be much of a load on the case. What print head and board temps do you usually use for PETG?

Thanks! I will have to try it. My ceiling is shaded by my cabover RTT but it still gets quite hot in the summers here.

I find it to be variable. I prefer to run a hot bed, about 75-85. Depending on color/brand/batch I usually run my print head between 215-225 though I find it to be wildly variable - I've had some that will string like crazy unless I drop it to 210, and I've had others that get poor adhesion unless I'm at 235.

I know you have an enclosure, but do you have an all metal hotend? That would be the only other requirement for printing ABS. Personally I print a lot of stuff in ASA, which is basically ABS but with better UV resistance.

    Good question.

Not sure to be honest. I run a temp tower and load it in my slicer, just set it to that filament when I need it. Plus I rarely print in petg, I absolutely hate the feeling of it so I avoid it unless I need it. I much prefer ABS and will go to that for anything I don't use PLA on.

An all metal hotend is desirable for abs but not required. I printed a ton of abs on my little ender using the stock hotend. The factory ptfe would deteriorate after a while but the capricorn ptfe was fine for quite some time. I usually ran around 245 for abs.

Finally got all the pieces together for the Christmas gifts.
Added several kits together for the ultimate bit set. There's always room for improvement but thought this was a pretty solid kit.
    Dewalt 120pc bit set kit
    Milwaukee 15pc drill bit set
Gearwrench 34 pc micro driver set
    Vim Micro ratchet
Makita 3 pc sq. drive impact rated
    Diablo 6" locking extension
    Dewalt locking extension
    Malco 4 pc driver set
    Kreg 6" sq. drive bit
Tekton 9 pc metric bit set
    Drywall bit set 2 pc.
    Amazon mini pry bar.

3D printed the socket set, bit set and most of the bit holders.
All bits have magnetic backers so case can be inverted w/o a complete catastrophic event. Bonus: NO RATTLE!

Moved a few months ago and just fired up the 3d printer for the first time since then. I remember fussing about with bed leveling for hours when I first got it, didn't even bother checking today :anonymous: Damned if it didn't print pretty well though. Maybe a touch low on one corner but overall not bad.

3d printed a grill, then cut a big 'ol hole in the front of my pc case.

Currently printing a new spool holder to clip onto the ikea lack tables I have stacked in the corner. Small office and I had to do what I had to do, so Lack stack it was hah.

What is the nicest looking and best working PETG or PLA metallic/chrome filament you’ve used? I am aiming to make a Mandalorian costume.
