And I’m saying every Canyon does, which people should consider when looking at trucks.

For $60k you can get a nice 3/4 ton sierra and get 18mpg

    I know! Like holy crap!

Bummer eh? Just weird…don’t like competition, silence it. Makes me want to go test drive the Chevy now. Mods probably would love to see me jump ship and quit hanging out on here. Guessing I owned Toyotas longer than some of them been alive though… lol!

Or the diesel half ton and get 30 mpg… (actually finding those in the low 50s)

Gotcha, I just see the 2 as the same except for all Canyons getting the HO motor and 2” lift. All good.
The 2.7 has been in the Silverado a while with few issues. Colorado Canyon issues have been related to the roof (fixed for 2024) and a few software issues with infotainment. No transmission issues with the refreshed tranny…. Yet. But I understand completely where your point is coming from. I hope GM is successful. Because it makes Toyota up their game and lower the pricing helping everyone!

I sat in a new AT4X canyon that was in the showroom. It was pretty nice but not worth the extra 5-6K over the ZR2 that I drove a couple days ago. I am on a few FB groups for both of those vehicles and there is definitely a higher than normal amount of ticked off buyers. It sure is a good looking truck. I could list out most of the complaints but it's easy enough to find on your own. I signed up here on TW finally after lurking for a while. I was dead set on getting a 4G Taco but I like higher end trims and well....

The base Tacoma engine only is available in the SR, that one had the standard engine for Sport, Off Road, and Limited.

Forgiving just a .60 sec difference through the quarter versus the old truck w two less gears at high altitude, for a small truck that costs 54 grand I don’t want to get embarrassed repeatedly by a guy driving a much less expensive Colorado. On off-road tires vs streets.

At 50k, Toyota needs to solve how to give the 2.4T a lot more torque w/o costing a fortune. Hopefully those batteries in the hybrid don’t weigh too much b/c it looks like we’ll need to pay 60k to pass a Trail Boss.

What is the salary of a $60K truck owner? We could probably afford it but really don’t want to. We could get a lot more fun out of that $20K by going on a bunch of nice vacations than driving around a midsize truck.

What??? That’s a limited Tacoma vs a Colorado trail boss. The Tacoma is much more expensive.

I’m blaming the person who brought up car fire deaths for getting the thread locked. Who said that? :D

They always say never over half of your annual salary, and I feel Toyota owners probably feel it’s more like never over 33% of annual income.

every situation is different, I live in a low cost of living area with a paid off house and no wife holding my balls in her purse… allowing me free will to make stupid purchases.

Most financial advisors say a vehicle should be only 10% of your income. Some even say 2-5%.

    lol!

(Must of missed the war crimes stuff)

Only skimmed the video with the sound off. Was it the 390 tq or the 430 tq version Chevy?

That Tacoma Limited they tested has the 317 tq version, right?

edit: went back, it’s the 430 tq version. Which comes standard in the Trail Boss for ‘24.

How? Beyond the MSRP for the Tacoma being probably $10,000 more.

The Tacoma Limited would more directly compete with the Canyon Denali. With Trailer Control and a Moon Roof the Denali is $54,805. The Denali has the "bigger" engine, the Limited has full-time 4wd. Seems competitively priced to me.

Ya I’m trying to understand if he’s saying that the Tacoma is not being fairly compared or the Colorado is being unfairly compared.
