    Good morning,
I am in Corona from Phoenix, AZ (supposed to be headed back already) and am looking for a shop or someplace that stocks the square terminal fuses for the top of the terminal. Or I will buy a couple from someone if anyone near by has them
I have an off grid engineering dual battery setup with the red arc controller and the square fuse popped yesterday evening. The truck gets no power when this happens, it is the accessory battery though. I replaced it (with the one spare I have) and still had to jump the starter battery. While driving to a hotel it popped again (the radio keeps resetting when this happens). Once I turned the car off it won’t start again and I cannot find another fuse. I’ve had this setup for 3 years and this happened once about a year ago and never again until now.
I have AAA on the way and had to stay at a hotel as everything was closed yesterday except auto zones and Walmart.
Any recommendations on where to take it today if AAA is not able to get it going (they don’t seem enthused about the dual battery)?

If your secondary battery is fine can’t you just swap it to primary and get by with essentially a single battery setup until you get all this sorted?

The only walk-in stores that might even have those Mrbf type fuses will be marine stores like west marine or whatever they have in Corona and even then they might not have the size you need.

The other option is just swap to a different fuse setup. A reputable car audio store could probably hook you up in a pinch since you’d need them to add a small length of battery cable between the new fuse block and existing cable.

The real question though is why are you blowing your fuse. Is it undersized for jumping your failing starter battery and during the jump it blows? I’m not sure but you’ll probably keep blowing any replacement fuse until the source problem is fixed.

I have a much older version of the OGE dual system before the RedArc. So I may be misunderstanding.. but what you say doesn't make sense.

You say the fuse on the accessory battery is going out, if thats the case the main truck battery should still function normally.

Also the radio resetting is odd. It should be all or nothing. I wonder if possibly you have a bad cell in the main battery? That is causing an internal short which accounts for the blown fuse as well as a significant voltage drop (enough to reset the radio).

First step might be to have each battery tested separately and look for any obvious issues. If you have one good batt and one good fuse you should be able to coble it together to get home.

I have the same concerns about the fuse blowing again and I installed everything so long ago and don’t do this every day so I’m not sure about troubleshooting.I don’t have my instructions for the setup with me to go back and put it on one battery.
AAA was just here and it will have to be towed so now I just need to figure out where to take it. I’m not opposed to just switching to a stock setup to go home at this point.

Post a few pictures of all the wiring for the batteries.

Are you in Corona CA? Or AZ? Im bored at work, seeing if I can find any of those Bussmann MRBF in stock local to you

I’m in Corona, CA right now. I live in AZ and was supposed to head home. AAA was here and said both batteries have power ( I’m suspecting issues with the accessory battery, I don’t know why the starter battery won’t start when its fuse appears to be fine). I appreciate any help you guys have, I stayed at a hotel to deal with this issue this morning and I am also trying to not dig too much into it until I have a plan and I don’t want to make it worse.
    Here is the starter battery:

    Here is the accessory battery:IMG_6209.jpgIMG_6211.jpg

    here is the fuse type:

The places I found nearby generally didn’t open until 9am when I was trying to find it in stock yesterday evening.

40A fuses huh... This system is quite different than my OGE system from many years ago. But thats ok I think we can still trouble shoot a few simple steps.

    Firstly which fuse is popping?
    A:

    Or B:
    upload_2023-12-27_11-9-9.png

    2) How do you know the fuse is popping? Do you have a simple multi-meter on hand or can you get one?

    3) Local Napa stores are open and appear to have that 40A MRBF available for pickup today
    https://www.napaonline.com/en/ca/corona/store/26157?sdref=header
    https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_CBBF40

    4) Can you take a few more pictures of the Pos terminal and all those hot wires on drivers side? What is the National Luna thing?

It is battery B on the drivers side that has the popped fuse.
I don’t have a multimeter with me but can get one at Napa. I can see the fuse is popped through it’s little view window.
I’m calling Napa now and hopefully they have a couple fuses.
I will get more pictures in a minute, of course I also have my dogs with me so trying to get them a place to stay while this is going on.

Thats what I thought just wanted to confirm. Depending on how all those accessories are wired, it might be a simple overload of that 40A. Hard to tell without more pics.

Oh and I forgot to add the national Luna fuse is an online fuse that also came with the OGE kit.
The accessories are just the light and fan I’m my camper and some ditch lights.
Thanks for your help so far, in theory shouldn’t have to jump it again as AAA said the start battery was ok. But also it should start without the accessory battery so I don’t know anything anymore.

Hmmm Im not exactly sure what that National Luna fuse is for.. I guess Ill have to wait for more pics. Seems the OffGrid Engineering website is longer operational so I cant find any documentation for this system

Yeah, I found out their website was out too because I was going to call or email them last night to get a jump on this. NAPA was a bust and an electrical specialty store hasn’t been able to locate them.

Odd, the NAPA website says available for pickup today..

I still cant tell how everything is wired without more pics, but none of the factory truck wiring should run through that 40A fuse as far as I know. You should be able to fully isolate everything related to the dual batteries / OGE system. Just put the stock wires back on the battery terminal as they were before the OGE system to get you home
