Would be nice if mine had the 3rd pedal, but Toyota didn’t offer it in the trim I wanted. Really hate how they package things.

The auto has definitely grown on me, don’t get the erratic shifting though, maybe because I don’t drive all that fast? Any time I start missing it, jump in my 1st Gen (about once a week), then go maybe the auto isn’t all that bad afterall.

Yeah it could use more bottom end, but none of all my Toyotas ever had any, so maybe ignorance is bliss? This is the most powerful Toyota I have ever owned, feels like a rocketship to me.

Rusty frames have been a toyota issue since the 80s. Not even a good comparison lol

lol! Probably, don’t like led Christmas lights either, prefer incandescents. Use the old fashion C9 and C7 opaque on our house. Much softer light. Not huge fan of LEDs, have them throughout the house, even the warm temp version isn’t quite right.

Toyota has the rust market cornered for sure!

But yeah, I agree with you GM, Ford, and Dodge made crap vehicles for years and years. While Toyotas were fairly decent in comparison. Not sure if that is the case anymore, don’t even trust my 3rd Gen, why I bought an extended warranty. Lots of Chinese electronics on it.

Not for nothing, but that Chevy WT lacks a 2 speed transfer case, just incase someone sees this.

I generally agree with the point of your post though, just pointing out one big difference.

I had one of those glare reducing visors for a bit, worked well, but like all visors, it never is where you need it. Shooting glasses work better.

I had mine done in Feb of this year. Did not realize how bad they had gotten. The colors are so much more vivid and I don't need reading glasses anymore. Just turned 70 and I see like I'm 40 again.

Did headlights bother you driving in the dark? I’m an early bird so driving to the dog walking and birding location is a challenge, and getting worse.

I just had my eye exam and my doctor just said my day is coming, but it’s up to me.

Lol! Older you get the less you sleep.
Ah good catch. Does have auto 4WD though, would use that more than low. With 430 ft/lbs tq on tap, probably don’t need low range. :)

    True, I’m 40 and usually function on 5-6 hours/night. 10 years ago I needed 8.

I really love the Wheels Toyota has on all these new trucks. Kinda thinking it would be cool to get the Marty McFly spec going on with a black TRD OR with the manual transmission. Maybe some yellow overlays on the fog lights

The 3rd gen is almost 70 percent north American....I would say lots

Would prefer Japanese built and electronics over North American built. Though one of their worst engines was the 3.0, and that was built in Japan.

Was the dream truck back in the day, they certainly went back to the future bringing back the XtraCab. :) Does have the most balanced look out of all the cab figurations. Too bad it lost the clamshell doors. Love my ACLB, it does scare me if I wreck it that I can’t get an exact replacement for the 2024 model year and beyond. Have a feeling they are going to command high dollar in the use market.

The new XtraCab does look good. I've never liked clamshell doors even though they help getting stuff out of the back.

I always felt like the whole side of the truck was caving in when shutting the door on my best friends 03 F150 with those, and the crash tests indeed show how flimsy they are. Even the newest Fords don't feel solid enough to me, and are a complete PITA to get out of if you're in a parking spot. Can't say I've ever tried them in the Tacoma, so maybe Toyota did better than Ford as far as how the feel.

Doesn't affect me either way though since I would trade a foot of bed for usable rear seats and more interior storage anyways.

Very outdated vehicles here, but just goes to show how terrible those clamshells are. Piece of garbage Ford folded like a wet napkin.
