IMG_9232.jpg IMG_9232.jpg IMG_9231.jpg Seltrum and wirefy both make excellent waterproof 4:1 heat shrink and don’t break the bank. I usually order off Amazon. I’m admittedly a wiring snob in my truck from audio to auxiliary LEDs to power blocks. I also use Seltrum and ancor lugs. I’ve used a lot of the different marine wire and to me it’s been all pretty much the same. Ancor does have a great rep but not sure it’s any better than the wholesale American made brands of wire you can get off Amazon in my experience I’ve used kimbluth and common sense marine wire company and it looks and feels the exact same as ancor does when it comes to wire imo. Wirecare.com is good for 12v connectors and fuses

I agree on getting adhesive lined heat shrink (acdc calling it “glue lined”).

hard thing about 12v electrical is finding everything you want and for a good price in one store. I often buy my welding cable and terminals from acdc but have sourced so many other things from either prowireusa or racetronix depending on what I’m after lol.

im guessing the JeepCables heat shrink tubing at the end may have adhesive to prevent water getting in

but the wire itself being sheathing without adhesive

lack of adhesive could make testing easier
    But…
Testing can likely still be done with adhesive, such as poking a hole into the wire temporarily to do multimeter checks if diagnosing an issue
Never seen that happen on a big gauge battery cable though. More common on tiny wires. And hole afterwards patched with a dab of liquid electrical tape etc

So after looking at the wire you’re getting from this site and the price of it. Check out knuconceptz kollosus flex 4 gauge wire and the strand count difference in this 2 gauge wire. Knuconceptz 8 days a week for tinned high strand copper wire imo. I can tell you that the 4 gauge from knuconceptz is higher count than most 2 gauge. Their 1/0 is so oversized it need 2/0 lugs to fit over the ends without snipping some off. I can tell you from experience it’s true oxygen free tinned copper wire and it’s very flexible

    heard back from JeepCables
They said one negative aspect of stock wiring is it tends to be not sealed, with ends crimped on bare

whereas theirs have heat shrink that id guess (hopefully) is also adhesive lined

makes sense for that to be better

unlike other wiring areas that typically should/do have internal sealing gaskets (such as a tail light connector)

    found another one
    https://snowboundcustoms.shop/produ...a-big-7-wiring-upgrade?variant=41967846686878

their pics say jeepcables so maybe they're just reselling without the optional colored sheathing wrap...

those look good. Not sure on prices, it’s been a long time since I did mine but I got all my supplies from https://m.delcity.net/ they have quality stuff too, just consider price matching over there as well. I usually end up buying an extra connector or two just in case, measure twice cut once crimp once ya know :)

Ok so I checked out the Knuconceptz site and yea, that 4ga measures the same as 2ga. So is number of strands really that important and at what point do we reach a point of diminishing returns? Especially if we consider the length of the run.

Checked out their site. The only issue is that it's sold in rolls of 25' minimum so I wind up paying out more than just the required amount plus wiggle room from other sites.
Extra connectors for sure. I threw in a few extra of each one. At less than a dollar each, there was no reason not to.

It’s scientifically important for DC electricity to flow best. Not sure on diminishing returns but if I can get more power better flow for the same money that’s what I’m choosing personally. $1.85 per foot for 4 gauge(2 gauge) from knuconceptz for over 2000 strands of tinned oxygen free copper

Thanks for that link. I’m constantly having to fix stuff & need stuff.

It’s a 36v battery pack with a 350a Anderson connector. The grey coupler is for adding water, it takes about 1/2 to 2 gallons every other week.

I happen to have a side by side between the one in your cart and knuconcepts that I just found in my scrap wiring box and you can see the difference between the two IMG_9244.jpg IMG_9247.jpgI’m looking for some scrap 4 gauge for a side by side but I’m having to dig. I’ve got a lot lol
I’m a wiring geek. I enjoy geeky nerdy shit like this. Here is how I crimp.. crimpin ain’t easy!IMG_9251.jpg

Got you! Again I’m not saying it’s gonna make a big difference in your application. Just pointing out that you’re gonna get more than you pay for with knuconcepts wire in my experience.. this 4 gauge comparison is actually windynation welding wire which is slightly better or bigger in my opinion than the south wire royal excelene.. imo the great thing about all these companies are they are USA brands if I’m not mistakenIMG_9248.jpg IMG_9250.jpg

It's not derailing at all man! Super helpful to see those comparison shots and I'm sure others who are, or will, do this will also appreciate all the input!

Chafed. They’re not smart enough to position the cables before closing the cover. I caught the red positive before it got bad.
