Anyone know a shop in the Denver/Boulder area that would let me bring in a part I already bought to install? Trying to get my new LCAs on but the passenger side lower strut bolt is frozen inside the sleeve, and the bushing is toast. Oh, also a place that can press in new shock bushings on 5100s?

lol - as a former JKRU owner and previous Jeep guy, I can say I loved my Jeeps, but the main thing I hated, and the main reason I switched to Toyota, is that all of my previous Jeeps has one thing in common; none of them were what I would call reliable. Fun, and great off-road but the reliability was never there, from my CJ-2A all the way through my CJ, TJ to my JK, they were all fun I their own way, but none of them were reliable.

Been a while since someone bitched about cyclists, right?

Was just walking my loaner dog and a woman was riding bikes with her younger kid within earshot. She pointed out the stop sign and said "bikes don't have to stop that's just for cars" and they rode through it. Fucking stood there stunned and wondering if the kid is gonna be alright. Definitely not the safe way to bike in busy neighborhoods lol

She is technically not entirely wrong, but sounds like not entirely right either.

As of last year (April 2022) Colorado has a "Safety Stop" law that allows cyclists and other "low speed conveyances" to treat stop signs as yield signs. A stop-as-yield sign still means that one must yield if other traffic has the right of way--it's not a free pass to blow the stop sign. The law also only applies to folks 15 and older (or kids accompanied by a parent/legal guardian).

Hopefully the kid learns the nuance of the rule. A rolling stop is safer for cyclists because it minimizes time spent in intersections (where crashes are most likely to occur), but it's only safer if done safely--you still need to check the intersection before proceeding, and legally you must slow down to 10mph before entering the intersection.

There are a few other caveats and limitations to the rule. Find 'em all here: https://www.codot.gov/safety/traffic-safety-pulse/2022/may/assets/safety-stop-pamphlet-final.pdf

The "Safety Stop" is also known as the "Idaho Stop". Idaho was the first state with such a law, way back in 1982: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idaho_stop

As a cyclist who takes advantage of our new state law, I still say to people "It doesn't matter if you're right when you get hit by a car - you still lose".

Huh, I had no idea that law changed. Makes sense when you explain it that way though. Hopefully they covered looking for cars and waiting for safe opportunities further down the block :D

I need someone to 3D print me up a base for the new 3-in-1 plastic bottles. I need two please.
The old metal cans stood proud and would not topple at the smallest table shake, spilling the contents on the table. Also having the concave bottom , they were unfazed by setting down on some tiny crap like the little screw you spend hours looking for because the can is so stable and hides it well. So a hollow bottom would be nice too.

Looks like a sufficiently motivated retrogrouch* could pop the red top and refill the old can from a new bottle?

    * No offense is meant by this term. I consider myself a bit of a retrogrouch.

I was just looking at that.
I do think there is a market for the base though. I'd buy two today.

And there you have it. A solution to a real world problem. Not just the ramblings of a befuddled old man. :luvya:

I can try and print one if you don't find anyone closer. Might cost and arm and a leg though. Old man pricing :luvya:

Might have to, that bottle pictured is different from the newest one, wonder if the bottom fits the same.
