You're absolutely right, they do

An original decal to an old truck doesn't mean a $4k mark up

And a vehicle that shouldn't be rusty (and is plentiful in a non-rusted configuration) isn't rare

 

They might be plentiful where you are, but they’re concentrated out in the sun belt. Only so many to go around, and they aren’t making more of them.

 

Let's say a truck in CA is asking $10k

Let's say that same truck in AR is $8-9k with some rust, since you continue to say your truck is rare, you're implying rust is an issue where you are

That cheaper truck will succumb to frame issues, or at the very least parts being cut apart and replaced due to seizing or otherwise safety issues; examples are lower control arms, leaf spring hangers, many bolts in various areas, skid plates especially on the fuel tank, and more. For someone like you that doesn't wrench, or weld, this will be very costly.

Having gotten a one way ticket to AZ or CA to pick up a truck and drive back gets you a much nicer example and for less money in the end.

Also, why won't your truck succumb to rust (you said that in a separate statement). You mentioned doing fluid film?

@CS_AR was very thorough when he did his vehicle, as we got to talking about pressure washers and everything. I would trust his vehicle to not succumb to rust but can't see how yours was treated any better.

 

This one's for my own curiosity and obviously requires no response; were you close to your MIL?

 

That'd add up when you buy it a pallet at a time

 

Yea I treated the frame with fluid film

 

Me as a buyer (if I was buying your truck) would want pics of the frame completely pressure washed and thoroughly cleaned out of any and all crud underneath

Then I'd want more pics to depict any light surface rusting having been taken care of, if any, and painted to protect the bare metal

Followed by the fluid film job done correctly

Lastly, how often you've fluid filmed it during time of ownership

 

Real talk; post it for $9-10k and mention a trade

This way you've created a "value" for your truck and you'll more often get a trade offer than a cash one

I only say this to 1. net you the most money and 2. get rid of your truck

Well, I expect the 100 series to be worse

My GX470 with street tires and a small lift got me 17-18mpg highway driving 6hrs round trip 2 days ago

In the city it averages about 14mpg

I recall you getting slightly better than that

 

That’s almost exactly what I get yea

 

Sounds like you need a 4th Gen 4R or GX470; wait didn't I suggest those already
