Wif and I went out to Hawaii once - and just for us - it rained every day, all day for a week...........Whenever she mentions trying it again, I get heart palpitations...... And fortunately lose my ability to speak.

Pre-op went well yesterday, got the extra blood test they needed while in town. Drove past the surgery location, so we're familiar with that congested area. I'm detail oriented, so it all helps. Surgeon detailed the procedure for me. You learn from teaching, so I think that helps everyone also.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Going to retire again today!

Got a 10 AM at Discount Tire for some new tread. I'll be here all week, for the rest of the year! :anonymous:
Retiring the skinnies. I ran out of confidence last time it rained.

Those rain slides aren't due to being skinnies. My wife's truck's P265/65R17 are absolutely horrible in wet and in snow.
My 255/85R16 out-perform her tires at every level.

Could yours be more a stippling problem instead?

Edit: or are you saying "retiring your old tires" which just happen to be skinnies? That you lost confidence because they are worn (& not the size)?

Prolly not. 255/80 17 Toyo ATII with about 20k on them. I wore off the soft tread, and now they are noisy and hard. Have lots of miles off the pavement left in them, but I don't do that anymore.

I like pizza cutters. Better in many ways to the wide, "popular" tires sold based on looks.

What's the date code? Tires age out and the rubber hardens with time.

@Oldie2007 nice shoes , my wife has 205 55 17 on her Hyundai from new. Touring style they suck for anything but ride. I put on dedicated 205 70 16 snow tires what a difference.

I want these for my skinnies! But finding them with stippling isn't easy (out there, but not close to me).
Also finding a proper rim for them that fits my axles...

About as close as you can get to un-stoppable.
Yet, I know nothing about noise at 65-75 mph (never had a military vehicle go that fast) or the life span of them.
Punctures were always easy to repair, but then we never got to high speed either.

Terrible for traction in almost all conditions. I'd never use them unless on a museum piece that would never be driven.

    Couldn't disagree more!

One afternoon I pulled out six or seven modern 4x4s with new-fangled "appearance" off-road tires, who couldn't get themselves out - on a mud & snow slick mountain trail in CO. 1995 and it was all about the tires.
I have gone through unbelievable red sticky mud (monsoon mud, it was deep!) in South East Asia without issue running these (military jeeps, weapons carriers, and 6x6s). Also a few paved roads wet with those same monsoon rains, but always slow & sensible. (The "M-?" designators for each vehicle escapes me just now.)
I have seen (stood & watched him for 45 minutes), an empty flatbed Toyota pickup pull modern autos & trucks out of snow drifts in MN with these tires. (Empty = no weight in the back.) Those cars & trucks could not move on their own tires. Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, and 4x4. Had to be 20 he rescued before I moved on.
I've seen a lot of footage of their capabilities in the military films from WW2 & Korea. Yes, some got stuck. Most made it through. Definitely enough made it that I would never say "terrible for traction". (Except, maybe, on wet paved roads at speed! Which is why I'm not running them now.)

So yeah, I don't agree with your statement. But not in the "I know better than you" way, just that I've had great experiences with them.
