It is! If this is truly the “Land of the Free” people should be able pick and choose their level of safety and comfort.

Perhaps the US’s moto should be changed to the “Land of the Over-regulated”.

In this day and age of choice and convenience, and robots doing most of the manufacturing, should able to build a vehicle to your exact specs.

I have a couple online print on demand websites, the customer picks what art they want which can be customized, what product(s) they want, colors, multiple sizes, etc. It is darn near endless combinations for the customer. Don’t see why that couldn’t be scaled up to auto manufacturing.

“Land of the free” also would give toyota the ability to offer or not offer whatever they want to, and manage their manufacturing in ways they see fit.

the US isn’t regulating Toyota into not offering custom orders.

OK technical question: what is the spec. turning radius of my '09 (see my sig).

The best I can tell from Googleage is 21'. Is that correct?

And the G4 has a 22' turning radius?

    Thanks.

We would probably be able to get diesels and LC70s here then…

…should abolish import laws while we at it too. :) I mean if this truly was a free market, ya know. Let the consumers decide what sells and what doesn’t.

    It’s not a free market.

“land of the free” is a marketing slogan, not a descriptor of reality. Never has been

That’s a fun read. The comments too. It’s amazing they could run the desert without isodynamic seats and Raptor lights. The Tacoma coming in last and the Chevy first must hurt a lot of feelings here. @OpeCity

Classic article. Should note that year the Ford & Chevy combined sold 500k+. The very expensive Tacoma sold 89k.

Apparently a whole lot of people in 1995 disregarded being lectured about inflation charts and chose the better value, if not the better truck.

The market will tell us all we need to know about how expensive Gen4 is or is not in a couple years, but just from early look of it, the smart money is sitting on the sideline for now.

And yet you see more '95 Tacomas on the road today than the Fords and Chevys.

The highways in Thailand are scary. Autobahn with no rules in old pos vehicles. Inner city bkk is a mess but slowish. Lots more scooter, tuk tuk and bicycle deaths than vehicles. Its just different there.

Who Makes the Most Reliable New Cars? - Consumer Reports

Lexus #1, Toyota #2. Chevy, Ford, Ram, Jeep aren't even close to the top ten.

When buying tools, TVs, appliances, or car/trucks, you can find some with more features for lower prices but does that mean they are better or a better value? The Colorado may have a lower price and a more powerful base motor but I don't see it as a better buy. People pay more for "premium" brands all the time. Sometimes it is just for the name but sometimes it's because that brand will last longer or perform better.

Sometimes I'm tempted to buy a Harbor Freight tool especially if it's for a one-time use project. Then I remember one of their tools failing on me causing damage to either me or what I was working on. Plus the additional time to get the right tool after the failure.

Eh Toyota just pays more money to get ranked 1. Kia pays the most to JD Power to obtain their 1 ranking. Who do we really believe?

Believe technicians in the repair business'. I can assure you Kia is NOT a #1 ranked dependable vehicle. Go ask car thieves lol.

Yeah she said it was nuts, but it all just seems to work.

Was wondering about the stats on the accidents. Assumed it was more peds, bicycles, and Tuk Tuks.

She would love to retire there. Don’t think I could handle the heat and humidity.

Running out the door to get Thai food ironically…sorry didn’t look up your ‘09. Sure you can find the Toyota spec archives on their website.
