Well, they are all big, black, and round. But the road noise is gone. And it's windy today - going it blows the truck around - coming home, I can hear it blowing on the cab, but I'm not moving! I got some rubbing, but I'll get the heat gun, and the new alignment, I'll have him push the camber back to the 3.5-4* it should have been for lift and large tires.

    20231229_120415.jpg

My 255 skinnies were great for what little off-road confidence I needed, but I'm not doing any of that any more.

They were brand new 23 months ago, had 20133 miles, and 11/32 left. But I wore off all the "quiet rubber", and the confidence went with it. Now, maybe I will even take on fly-overs.....nah - who am I kidding!

What are snow tires? I remember having some on my 78 Dodge Magnum when I moved here. They melted off.

    Rat Patrol NEVER got stuck!

They will have a 3 peak rating holes for stud's if your state allows them or siped when they don't and sometimes special compounds that wear quickly.
But you know that. I just like the piece of mind when my wife drives because she seems to wait for braking on compacted snow. That first snow of the year. Cheaper than testing out the deductibles.

@Oldie2007 I had a set ;of blizzacks took off last year that I had for 8 seasons. They weren't weathered but down past the soft rubber for ice, so last month I put a set of Michelin x-ice so far I'm happy. I couldn't find any blizzacks that weren't load range E. I sold the old ones on marketplace for a $100. I was ahead of the game by not having to pay the disposal fee. The guy who took them checked the manufacturer dates and still thought he got a deal. He was putting them on an old half ton plow truck.

    Morning all:

Still working on the trees, oak isn't near as easy to cut as the pines were, also cutting it into smaller pieces so my hunting buddy can use it for firewood.
I broke out the Stihl to cut it and might need to buy a different chain for it, the original chain it came with threw chips around an inch long, I never had a chainsaw that cut like that. Years ago my buddy would have come down and cut it up just for the wood, he would be really suffering if he had to do what I'm doing, luckily it doesn't bother me to do it. Then there's the neighbor, his woodshed is full but he would gladly take it, but then my buddy wouldn't have any wood to burn in his garage when he's working in there.

Talk about tires, every time I find tires that I like they stop making them! :(

Had a little too much adventure over Christmas.

Spent the last 12 days in the hospital due to a bacterial infection in my foot. Turns out it was flesh eating bacteria. After 2 trips to surgery to remove all the dead/infected tissue I remained in the hospital as they administered a steady stream of IV antibiotics and initiated vacuum wound therapy.

I was released from the hospital on the 28th and have several months of wound therapy with the wound vac 3x per week for dressing changes (each dressing change takes about an hour). The surgeon removed a chunk of flesh from my foot about the size of a playing card with no skin left to sew together so the wound therapy success is all based on growing new flesh.

There is a silver lining to this, the infection did not make it to the bone which would have ended up in amputations. I am thankful I came home with all my toes and my foot. Looking forward to 2024 and a new year focused on healing and getting mobility back…that will take a few months but the journey has started.

    Happy New Year to all!

That doesn't sound like anything to go through, good luck with your healing. What really sucks is the time you're not moving around. Hopefully you can get better and they have you doing something to keep your strength up.

    Diabetic?
This plays merry Hell with the extremities and the eyes.
I'm a raging diabetic and had to give up eating anything "fun".

No more goodies, desserts, loaded baked potatoes, fries, etc.
But... I have a diet of steaks, eggs, cheese, salads, olives, fruits, etc.

For the most part, if I can hunt it down and kill it, or pick it off a bush or tree, it's good to eat.
If I have to plant and cultivate it, nope.
Bananas and grapes are the exception... murder on my blood sugar.
    Watermelon is almost no impact.
