I get that. Long story short the guy burned up all of his ECU connected computers, and the ECU, using a plasma cutter cutting fenders on a 2nd gen. A total freakin mess. The video shows the work involved in replacing everything plus each harness. Nice looking truck too.

Thanks! Ground clearance definitely gives peace of mind when you're running over stuff. The swing out is a must have imo. Mine is from bamf and it's beefy.

Thanks, I got it maybe 7 yrs ago from the now defunct Pelfreybilt. Had it shipped to bamf for powder coating. It's one of the best looking bumpers I've seen.. not biased at all ;) It's unfortunate they closed shop. I'd buy their bumper again if I could.

About what mine weighs.. with very similar loadouts (full armor, 35s, 13g water, fridge, fuel, gear, tools, etc). I'm sitting right around 6600# myself...but I try to keep wet and dry weights close so there's not a lot of fluctuation/easier to tune and setup. I think it fluctuates maybe 100lbs or so (drinks, food, clothes). I too run the fully loaded BAMF rear.. its damn nice...but damn heavy. Lol we even run the same front bumper... would definitely recommend upgrading brakes to a BBK. I bit the bullet and went with the Wilwood BBK.. but they are very nice and even save some weight.

New brake pads and rotors. First time ever doing it myself. Was honestly pretty straightforward and simple.

Got to use all the Black Friday harbor freight grabs finally. Snapped my cheap harbor freight torque wrench though. Gonna get a new one and get me an impact driver too. Would have made getting one caliper bolt lose, much easier.

Haha nice! Looks like our rigs were separated at birth  I also have the 5# propane but mounted on the other side of my spare. I run the Stoptech BBK in the front and it definitely adds confidence in traffic. I forget the fridge so that's another 50#. Underside I have the bamf IFS and tranny skids, but never installed the transfer case skid. Glad we're still sub 7000#. I think I'm between 11-14mpg.

What camper shell is that? It looks solid. I've considered switching over to minimize the dust and any prying eyes.

I used the products from MPC at https://shop.mypushcart.com/pages/remote-starter-kit.

You have to get the remote start kit for 230 or 290 depending on the option desired with the phone app separately at around 170 and includes 1 year of service. I got the cheaper unit with the phone app. Had it for about 4 years in an Acura MDX.

All the crap definitely adds up.. but I like just having all my stuff and being able to randomly cook up our hauls during Dove season, or just chill for the day by the river and wash up on the trail for lunch, etc. The Tacoma isn't ideal for all the weight and stuff.. but it gets it done. Lol I'm lucky if I get 11mpg.. but I also gave up a long time ago, especially after adding Boost and then going down that rabbit hole.

The camper is a Super Pacific wedge camper. Prior to it we used a bedrack + RTT setup for years as well.

Finally bit the bullet and installed my remote starter kit! Had it sitting in the box for a couple years now. Can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner. Installed it with no tools except a leatherman, at 4am, 21 degrees Fahrenheit lol

More mods than it should have...
Installed my ROVRLAB Auxbeam 6 gang panel housing yesterday. Love the design and look without wires coming out the side.

I have the StartX kit. Instructions weren’t really accurate in terms of programming but I just kinda held the button and cycled key and tried to follow the general order and it worked lmao. I’m not sure quite how far the range is but I can start it from my bedroom so I’m happy with it! Gonna make all the difference if the weather goes back to normal. Usually January highs average in the 20s but we’ve been almost 40 lately. Fingers crossed for some snow soon!

Also, kit was a lot simpler because I have a base model. No door locks to wire in, no other remote functions/horn honks/light flashes to worry about

I really dig the wheels! Almost look like the trd ones imo. Nice angular lines.

Just coming on to vent about how much I hate changing the front diff and transfer case fluid. For some idiotic reason I thought I was going to use a siphon tube and ball pump to get the fluid in, which went nowhere. I have no idea what I did with my proper hand pump. So instead I was trying to squeeze the one quart bottles in, which was just a fucking debacle. Maybe by next week I’ll stop smelling like gear oil. But, job done, and all the plugs came out fairly easily with no PB blaster.

The rear diff is sooooo much easier my god.

Procrastinating on the tranny drain and fill until I find that hand pump. And then I’m done with 90K.

Saw a fb marketplace listing for a hard tonneau cover that is a paint match, given how rare that seemed I jumped and went and purchased it today!

The frame of it is bent but manageable, the tonneau doesn’t lock shut meaning it could spring open, if only the struts provided any lift (it does hold open), the paint job was surely done outside and only *nearly* matches. All to say it does not inspire confidence.
Settled for this and missed the Softopper while they were on sale
Was only $40, and that’s okay.
I loved my roll up canvas cover and will begrudgingly re install most likely.

sometimes the Tacoma bug bites, and it hurts. Also, you may call me grandpaIMG_4243.png
