Toyota Stalking, er...um, SPOTTING with Charlie™ (Hilux/Truck and T-100 Edition)!

I've seen it all. Sometimes its as simple as a rad leak that was ignored and they overheated into oblivion.

The first 3ur I saw die was 100% customer abuse. We couldnt explain it, but one day I saw the truck on the highway and it was hitting the rev limiter past me.

 

Is a 3UR the 3.0L used in trucks and T4Rs until 1995?

 

You're supposed to be the all knowing truck encyclopedia!

5.7 tundra, 2nd gen.

 

Those engines are supposed to be pretty bulletproof...?

 

Exactly, and it was 8000km blown. Most 5.7's died due to superchargers.

I have pics... lemme see. It was years and years ago. They are massive engines due to the angle.

 

So it had less than 5K miles?!?!

Ya nothing is indestructible. This was 100% abuse, but it still failed.

 

Did they have to pay for a new engine, I hope?

 

No, it’s nearly impossible to prove abuse causing engine failure. Even miss shifts in manuals can be disputed.

Toyota approved it no issues, they stand by their product regardless of what some say on here.

The FOR SALE sign says 1985, but Carfax says 1984, so this could be one of the very last carbureted trucks! The camper portion is almost completely gutted, and it's unfortunately an automatic...



However, it does have cab/dash A/C and does not seem to have major rust; I would buy this in a heartbeat and fix it up if I had the cash!

This photographic proof of how unkind Pennsylvania winters are to Toyota trucks; I saw 1992 Toyota 4x4 sitting by the side of the road with a For Sale sign shoved into the ground in front of it, so I stopped to take a look. The doors were unlocked (and amazingly enough, the key was in the ignition; that iconic Toyota door buzzer sounded when I opened the door, so that means the truck at least has electrical power, and despite its atrocious condition it probably fires right up)Unfortunately, this truck has the 3.slow as evidenced by the "V6" emblem on the grille...

Unfortunately, this truck has the 3.slow as evidenced by the "V6" emblem on the grille, but it has a low (for a 1992 Toyota) 132K miles! If this truck weren't rusted out and completely trashed, but still had this mileage, it would be suitable for a 3.4L swap!

 

For a 1992 regular cab, this truck is quite well equipped; A/C, tilt, intermittent wipers, and a cassette player!

 

Unfortunately, every body panel is rotted, and the frame is shot too. If the cab isn't salvageable, the drivetrain is likely the only usable thing, and this truck is probably ready for the junkyard once those components have been yanked; I wouldn't be surprised if this truck is mechanically fully functional though, including the A/C! You can see major rot on the frame in this picture...

 

The left bed panel was by far the worst in terms of rot...

 

If this truck were to undergo a full restoration, the driver's door would most certainly have to be replaced...
