After living in Southern AZ for 20 years, why in Hell would want a heated steering wheel? (Let alone heated seats) Use to keep gloves in the console because during the summer it would get so hot you could barely touch it. Never leave your sunglasses on the dash either…

Like the ol’ nitrogen in the tires trick for “desert protection” package. Lol!

The extra $2K for the Premium (actually $2100) gets you heated and ventilated seats, Softex, Multi-Terrain Monitor, a digital rearview mirror (which gets you HomeLink), and the power tailgate. Seems worth it.

Question for anyone with heated and ventilated seats. The wife likes the heated seats in her 4R but she likes to have cool air blowing on her face. If you have the h&v seats the heat comes from the hvac and not from heated elements? Don't think she'd like that. Configurator won't let you add heated and h&v.

Ya it’s unfortunate. I mean from a marketing standpoint a half ton is $5,000-$15,000 more. But they’re forgetting the big 3 discount off MSRP $8,000-15,000. So for $55,000 I can get a loaded Trail Boss diesel or a loaded Taco OR. If you live somewhere a half ton is fine, then your options open up. The Tacoma becoming so big makes a half ton that much more easy to transition to.

Live in Idaho now, never felt the need, I run hot though because of a heart condition, can’t even wear a jacket while driving. Do like those ventilated seats though, don’t think you can just get ventilated.

There is a heated seat option for only $600. There probably won’t be many trucks made with such an economical option like that though. They would rather add $8000 of extras instead.

I haven't seen one yet searching inventory in the Southeast with this package. Plenty of them have either one option or all of the options, but I haven't found heated seats only yet on the TRD OR

Finding half tons all day long at $55K or below. I am not too particular about options though like a lot of the guys on here, I mean geez…the base models come with more than I need or use. How much shit does one need? That said look for more practical differences, seeing I can get a Tundra with a 32 gallon tank over the Tacos 18, that gets similar mpgs, and higher capacities.

    https://www.edmarktoyota.com/inventory/new-2024-toyota-tundra-sr5-4x4-double-cab-5tfla5da1rx151590/

Yeah those guys saying they like the Tacoma because of its size for trail running are going to have it tough since it grew 3” in width, real close to a Tundra now.

Same, manual TRD OR with heated seats is my ideal buy. Unlikely to ever come across one unfortunately

And if you find one, it’ll be a dealer who’s MSRP plus $2,000 desert protection package.

Was looking at Katzkin for my 3rd Gen, because this pretty much sums up the differences between men and women. (Can’t stand how Toyota bundles their packages)

Toyota has been bundling options for years. To get some feature you want you have to pay for a bunch of stuff you don't need nor want. It's worst here in Canada as lowest optioned Tacoma model is the 4x4 SR5.

Yeah, couldn’t get exactly what I wanted or didn’t want on my 3rd Gen. Ford was much better about doing a la carte. Almost bought a Ranger because of it. Could get their base model Super Cab, with vinyl seats, rubber floors, rear seat delete and a rear diff locker. Came in a little cheaper than the Taco too.

Was at the Ford dealer filling out the order form, the dealer was like “that is all you want!”…yep. It’s a truck and I use it as such.

Had deposits down on both, Toyota got it to me faster is why I bought the Tacoma.

I really wish I could custom order a Toyota. But, I guess they are #1 for a reason.

Me too. There were a couple of other reasons I stayed, been driving them for 30 years, so why change now? Not too concerned with resale, but do admit in the back of my head it is nice. Having random people coming up to me wanting to buy my 1st Gen, made me think you don’t get that with others.

Similar to what I experienced with aircooled VWs, people knocking on the door to “hey do you want to sell that thing?”
