Not sure if I like them yet. Theyre a little bulky looking but they may grow on me. Atleast they cover the frame view. I didn’t need help putting them on. I just sat facing the truck with my legs under it and held each one up with my knees while I put the top bolt in the middle bracket. Then I went outwards from there.
Theyre not very heavy. I think 64 pounds for both so 32 pounds wasn’t that bad to wrestle on there.
Ipp see if they grow on me. I’m not too impressed with the lower bar even though it adds strength I may look into a more low profile one in the future. We’ll see. And it doesn’t look too hard to fab some tube steel kickers to the frame if I end up keeping them

Shoutout to @SpikerEng for getting back to me so quick on a small question I had before I did the install!

 

I adjusted the driver's headrest angle. For years many cars' headrests have bothered me - pushing my head too far forward/down when I have the rest of the seat where I like it. I don't know if others can relate, but for reference I'm 6'1", and have been told by chiropractors that I have a "flat spine", meaning less curvature than average in my mid (thoracic) spine. This tends to position my cervical spine and head a little farther back when naturally sitting/standing. So, I removed the headrest and bent each metal post a tiny bit, something like 5° backward, to reduce this effect. I did this on my previous truck as well, and it dramatically improves my comfort.

You can find images/descriptions of guys setting up "headrest sandwiches" and the driving onto them with one wheel to bend the posts. That's a pretty aggressive approach for my taste. I simply inserted one headrest post into a metal pipe, set that end of the pipe on a 4x6 block of wood to elevate is, and pushed down on the headrest multiple times to incrementally adjust each post. The changes are small, so it's unlikely to get over-done. Check vs the other post for the amount of bend you want, then copy that onto the 2nd post.

I'm not talking about creating a huge gap behind my head, just allowing me to hold my upper spine in a natural relaxed seated position while keeping the headrest pretty close to the back of my brain bucket.

This was after I traded it in for my Off-road.

 

Mine are supposed to arrive around Jan 10. They will be replacing OE Predator Steps which came with truck at time of delivery at no cost to me and I never liked. Well ultimately you pay for everything but they were not in the negotiated price. A story for another day. Anyway for the price I think I will like them and like you said adding some additional bracing would make them much stronger. I can just about guarantee I won’t be rock crawling with my Taco.

 

But you have the 6M…..it was made for this!

 

I did this install last year and it wasn't hard at all. Mine came with covers there and it was a very easy plug and play to the taillights.

I didn’t even realize they had it on tap until the next time I stopped by. Tried a sample and it was pretty good although I prefer a IPA since they have a little more bite and are more Hoppy

I got an OTT tune today light, mild. After the tune all I can say is wow. I love the way it drives now, No more hunting for gears!!!!

 

Finally got my wheels and tires put on! 275/70/17 BFG ko2s with -10 offset scs blaze 10s. Tires still look small… maybe 285s will be my next set.

 

Got the Tufskinz letters on today, so here’s a pic of my skid plate. Also installed this Christmas gift (Pro shift knob) from my kids.

 

Left CV gave up but luckily I order a spare OEM one on Black Friday.

Got it out and back together in under 10min (starting with the tire off)

Where it decided to die. Made it back home in 2wd

 

I can scrape my fingernails across a blackboard without it bothering me so the noise of scraping rocks isn’t the issue. It’s that sweet smell of burning clutch that gives me a bellyache. I’m actually more of a mud/sand/woods guy.

 

Wow! That’s really good time! No pry bar? Did you use that strap and sledge (single jack) to yank it out of there?
