When adding 2 other players not involved creates a distraction it fucking damn well is your job. Stop blaming refs for a piss poor idea.

 

When the official looks at the player who is reporting as he is reporting, why do you have any reason to believe he didn't see it correctly? 70 was still jogging toward the official, he wasn't even in the huddle. Not to mention even the Monday Night Countdown guys point out that it is pretty standard practice to bring up multiple players when reporting. Stop blaming the players for the official's fuck up.

Edit: also, to make myself clear this is about the blown call. This is not taking away from the multiple other decisions and chances that allowed the game to be decided by this call in the first place.

I don’t really recall ever hearing an eligibility report announced by a ref in an NFL game, but in clips of the Spanish language ESPN broadcast you can clearly hear #70 being announced by the ref over the PA as reporting. Basically just as the Lions were breaking the huddle. Who knows if anyone heard it, I can’t hear it on the English broadcast. Believe the Lions were out of timeouts so nothing they could have done to correct it.

 

Both Ravens QBs have perfect passer ratings, wonder if that’s ever happened before

 

The spilled milk from last night is even more relevant. Had the lions won, Niners would still need to play and win next week. Zebras were a blessing.

 

You know if the Patriots could break the huddle with less than 11 seconds on the play clock they MIGHT be able to read and respond to the defense...
