Ya think? Are you suggesting they are causing me to act irrationally or something? :annoyed:

I'm sure you could tune the 2.4 to get similar numbers to GM's 2.7 H.O. motor, but at the cost of reliability.

Nobody wants to plug in their vehicle. I don't know if the BEV and PHEV manufacturers got the memo or not. Just ask anyone with something as simple as a block heater. They would rather not have to plug in their vehicle so it will start in the morning.

Yeah, you're right man. They'll never sell those damn Tesla's. And I think my buddy that had to travel 8 hours to buy a RAV4 prime PHEV was just lying to me. Thanks for sharing your superior knowledge with us.

Nobody wants to plug in their vehicle. Ask anyone with a a Rav Prime or Tesla, what they would change about their vehicle if they could. 100% of them would say. They would ditch the cord.

Since when did the person paying the bill decide what is consumable or not? Taylor Swift concerts allways sell out. Nobody wants to hear a Taylor Swift song.

Bet they could, (and some tuner will) yep toss reliability out the window. Believe the 228hp/243tq version is the one you want for longevity.
Believe Bat was being sarcastic, do think he is right though. No one really wants to plug in their vehicle, like how I can’t stand going to the gas station, but have to do it anyways, just of those chores that has to be done, like doing dishes and laundry. Same with Taylor Swift, no one I know likes her, but damn she sells out her concerts.

Aren’t they working on wireless charging for EVs?

    https://evchargingsummit.com/blog/everything-you-need-to-know-about-wireless-ev-charging/

Was looking at RAV4s for giggles, those Primes aren’t cheap, pushing $55K. That is a lot of coin to spend to save a little on fuel. I’d take one of the LEs though for around $30K. That seems reasonable for a run around vehicle. Liked the loner we had for a week.

If I still had my 2nd gen, I'd be going for a Gen 4 now. But since I got a Tundra last January I will wait and see how these go for a year or 2 before deciding whether to downsize back to a Tacoma. Besides, trying to find one spec'd to my liking would be nearly impossible until the initial demand slacks off. I hate new model feeding frenzies.

I know a few people have mentioned this, and I'll say it again, Turbo engines can be nightmares. My neighbor was complaining about the turbo engine in his civic the other day. Obviously this is a truck, not a car, but a four cylinder turbo engine on a truck just sounds like a bad idea.

Im sure plenty of people will get paid to show you how much better the new and improved truck is, and I'm sure it will have improvements that can't be ignored, but i want to see that engine in action for 2-3 years before deciding it was a positive or negative move. I'll leave it up to the brave with deep pockets to forge ahead before making a decision.

edit: I'm rooting for this to be positive because the only thing left in manual v6 worth buying is a gladiator, and i am not ready to put little rubber ducks all over my vehicle

These aren't your 1980's turbos. They are plenty reliable.

Have they been used in another vehicle before? If not, how can you be certain it's going to be reliable at all? I'm not implying it's impossible, only it hasn't stood the test of time yet so there is no way to know.

I do love it and have no reason to upgrade at this time, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at a deal i couldn't refuse either, only except it would have to be equally if not more reliable and tried.

They’ve been in Lexus and Toyota SUVs for a bit, but are modified for heavier truck use in this case

My Volvo 740 Turbo ran well over 200,000 miles without issue. Friend's Saab 900 Turbo, same story. Sure, lower boost, but it was 1980's technology. Time will tell, but 40+ years of progress, not worried about the Tundra or Tacoma on that score. It wouldn't stop me buying either one. The price will though.

unfortunately I need a vehicle so I will buy a first year of this gen. looking as we speak and I am torn between chevrolet/gmc or going back to toyota loved my second gen 2011. Really debating about waiting for the hybrids to come out love the pro while hating the iso seats would rather just a regular seat. also afraid the price is going to make it hard to justify when I can get the other for less and have better seating space in the back. but being optimistic and waiting on more information to come out.

I'll wait until there's a plug-in hybrid. The current hybrid doesn't get better enough mileage for me to justify it.

It's 2024, where is the plug-in option? The MPG number on the hybrid are embarrassingly bad.
