Toyo MT's or Nitto Trail Grappler Tires

So I am trying to decide what tire to go with if I do a 6" lift. I like the looks of both the Toyo MT and the Nitto Trail Grappler. I have found that I can get both in 35 x 12.50/R18 for about the same price.

I hear good things about the Toyo MT's and I do like the appearence of both tires. I will not be doing too much offroad driving but more city/hwy driving.

 

if your gonna be highway driving, i would get an all terrain. m/t's wear fast on pavement and those are some expensive tires. goodyear wrangler duratracs are an all terrain with a very aggressive tread pattern that will last a long time

Yeah I love the look of the Nitto Trail Grapplers. I have been very impressed with my Nitto Terra's in past and wanted a more aggresive look. Everyone keeps pushing me to go with the Toyo MT's though.

 

I say get all terrains but if you're dead set on those 2, toyos all the way.

 

Everyone and their sister in laws grandma has the Toyo's.

Get the Nittos IMO they look better too.

 

Maybe a bfg at? Beefy but still an at which would suit your needs better. If youre in it for looks I say trail grappler. In it for longevity I saw toyo.

They are both good looking tires. I hear all sorts of good things about the Toyo MT's, but it is true that everyone and their mother has them on a lifted truck.

The toyo's are much heavier, but they are bar none. Theeee quietest mud terrain on the market, and on our trucks, they wear like Iron. The Nitto's are nice, I was going to go with them, but went with KM2's instead. They are also pretty soft like the BFG's. I guess it depends on what type of driving you will be doing. If its just DD and some wheelin' I say the Toyo's will suite your needs just fine, guarantee you will get at least 50K out of the tires. If you are going to see a good amount of off-road and DD then I vote Nitto's because of the softer sidewall, easier to air down, and flex more. Then again you will probably see 35-40k out of the Nittos since the tread compound is much softer.

If your mostly On road stick with a A/T....Nitto TG are great for both.

I found the most awesome tire that is a radical M/T (Federal Couragia) They have a wicked tread design better than a TSL super swamper and better than the Toyo M/T...I found a 35" on E-Bay your size for $1100. I just bought a set and I can't believe the value!

 

Yes sir I am aware Toyo owns Nitto. The Toyo's are much, much heavier. Nitto=78lbs. (35x12.50x17) , Toyo's =79.4lbs(35x12.50x15)
Thats a 15" tire, 2" of more sidewall. The Toyo in a 35x17 ? = 82.7lbs!

Yeah I took a picture of the Federal Couragia on a Tundra not too long ago.

Lets get some things straight... the shorter the sidewall the heavier the tire with many Toyo and Nittos... they weigh the same in the same rim size. Shorter siewall is built heavier... counter intuative, I know. But they generlly interpret shorter sidewall as being used for road and towing use.

Toyo is slightly quieter and longer lasting but more expensive. Nitto does better offroad on slick rock or mud. You will only get the same $ per mile either way as the Toyos are ~50-75 bucks more money each depending on individual tire selected.

Talked to several dealers who sell both and that is the concensus.

You should just get a 4.5" lift and do 295/70R18 IMO. Its 1.5" more lift and 2" taller a tire than the 3" ToyTec and 32.5" Terra Grapplers you are running now.

35x12.5 is actually a 13.4" wide tire.
