Good morning and Happy New Year to all. I was up till 1am but the wife and son stayed up later. I might rustle up some Blueberry pancakes for breakfast today. Ready to cook a prime rib for dinner tonight.

rotator cuff surgery 12/19 still recovering, so nuthin on the grill for over 2 weeks, prolly be a few more until.....

 

HAPPY NEW YEAR! sixtys/wannabes/old acquaintances. We celebrated New Year's with the French and the British.

Happy New Year Porch Pals & Sue! We barely made it to 11 local, but that's midnight Eastern. Neighbor idiots with fireworks had no problem going until well after. Refrigerator did not make it to midnight. Control panel/water dispenser crapped, little light burned out, nothing apparently works. Can't believe the dispenser light would be a "fuse"! Not fixing this stupid GE thing again. At least it failed "last year".

 

Happy New Year Porch Peeps. Made it to 10:00 pm. Watched new years on the east coast on tv. The cat was on my lap snoring so I decided it was time to go to bed. I think 2024 will be one of the most interesting years yet. I’ll just leave that there. Happy new years all, be safe.

I own a duplex. The oven on my side took a dump on Thurs night, tenant's oven died last night. Happy New Year.

New one scheduled for "sometime" tomorrow - with a 5 years Lowes warranty attached. Now to cancel the truck alignment, and reschedule, which means no hangar Wednesday prolly.

 

Mine sound like both are temp sensors...of course, nobody's open for parts today.

 

WHoa... The first time I read that I saw it as your tenants died... Not that their oven died.

But if it had to happen (the ovens dying) it may be a blessing that both died so close together. Now you can shop for two at the same time and maybe even negotiate a better deal on two.

 

Poorly worded...fixerated! Going to try to repair both...mine's only 6 years old, the other is about 8.

 

Good for you. Fixing is even better. With only that much time on them and they broke, they must be GE.

 

Frigidaire, kinda surprised me...though it probably shouldn't these days. Nothing's built worth a shit anymore.

 

Given that the burned out bulb is not likely a "fuse" for the controls, one of two control boards likely fried, since it's now empty, and everything is on ice outdoors in coolers. I've repaired this stupid GE for something annually since we bought it. At the time, it was the only (old, narrow) 33" W available. Now, I'll have a Whirlpool, like all the other appliances.

 

The thing that bothers me the most is that a lot of stuff is impossible to fix. Farmers are buying old tractors because they can't fix the new ones.
