Fresh snow and close to 0° here

 

Was nearing the teens last night over in Oregon.

Actually was interesting, I had a sleeping bag and was warm in the van, but when it got real cold at night, it was as of Znüni was trying to lay on me to keep me warm, couldn't get her to leave me alone.90lb weighted blanket is warm but a lot!

 

My 4 legged heater does a pretty good job of keeping me warm.

 

I mean i stayed plenty warm. Just breathing was an issue...

 

I prefer your weather for sure! Over half an inch of rain on partially frozen ground is gross.

You were right @drr was a bad caliper. Wasybrbay one. Had a spare one from Napa so easy enough fix.

 

What is that?

 

I'm fluent in Ben's texting so I was able to use some of those skills on Monte's there. I think he said it was an eBay caliper

I'm starting it off with a failed front wheel bearing it seems like. Been a while since I looked up how to do this but I do remember the horror stories of presses not being able to do it. Last time I just striped down the spindles and took it to Toyota and had them do it. Think I even brought the parts.

But I don't live super close to a great dealer anymore. My dad has a press in Powell so I'd either go get that or bring the spindle down. Or am I dreaming the harbor freight special can even do it?

 

I wasn't able to do it with my 20 ton press, but that was because it's really hard to get them fixtured.

You basically have to support them by the little bosses where the dust shield bolts go, but hold it high enough that there's room to press it out.

It would be easy if you had a press big enough for the hub to fit though the base.

 

My 20 ton harbor freight did mine no problem. I think they were the originals with 500k. Just takes a bit to set it up on the press

This is good to hear because I just bought an HF 20 ton to do this very job.

 

Just have the appropriate diameter to press the bearing in. All my stuff was over the diameter of the over race. You can use the old bearing for most of it, it's just the last bit that gets tricky. Keep everything straight when pressing. I had the old stuff out and the new stuff in a morning. Wasn't too bad.

 

Since we are on the topic and this reminded me of a screenshot I took seen below…not sure how good it is but may be worth a shot for someone. Just another option.
