I had an '08 Tundra 5.7 4WD for ten years. Unladen, that truck returned 12.7 to 14.0 in mixed driving. When I was towing my race trailer it would dip to 7.5-8.5.

Got this several times doing highway ( 70mph+ ) speeds -
Steady as she goes up to speed - keep RPM's below 2,000....

I bought a new Tacoma 2023 that came with a full tank of gas.
It now has 265 miles on it.
175 miles of non-stop freeway from Fresno to Sacramento.
90 miles of city streets and local traffic.

It took 12.57 gallons to fill it back up.
This is a combined 21.2 mpg with both freeway and city driving.
On the trip back from Fresno, the dash was indicating 26.2 mpg for the freeway portion of the drive.

My Tacoma is doing fine, it's the driver that's an idiot who can't keep his foot off the floor.

It's looking like I might be hard on tires too.

I get between 8 mpg (towing) to almost 20 mpg (almost pure highway driving at 65-70 mph)

I’m usually getting 17 mpg mixed.

I am back up to 17ish. Really happy because the sub 14mpg was just too low for long trips.

Short trips kill the MPGs on these trucks.

    Ha!

Surprisingly I’m still able to get stock MPG numbers if I drive nice.

I am getting 18MPG around town and 22-23 on the highway running 87 octane fuel. I tested 93 octane and mileage improved slightly to 24-25, but not worth the additional expense to fill the tank.

I’m getting about 27 hwy and 20 average so far with stock setup. Actually it’s got a super charger, door tag says 3.91 gear could probably get Lot better with skinner tires that hold more then 50 psi like mine do. I got 31x10.5 tires that are pretty meaty. 50 psi max. That’s going down the road at 55-60 to get the best milage. 2000-2100 rpm. In town I usually don’t rev it over 2250 rpm shifting without the clutch up and down gears just using clutch once

New 23, DCSB 4x, 4000 miles, northwest Missouri rolling farm country, 40 mile trip, running late Sunday morning , 13/13.5 mpg doing 80mph with a decent headwind! , I can run 65 and eke out 17/18 average. I knew it was not gonna be good, but was hopeful it would be a bit better.
The heritage grill sets it back to 1985, it identifies as a fj60!

If you can get 18 to 22 mpg with a 2015 Tundra you should be able to get 28 to 32 mpg with a Tacoma.

Average 25mpg with my tacoma. Mostly highway driving below 70mph. Truck is 2.7 2wd with skinny tires and 3.15 gears. Recently retired and do a lot more driving now and with gas prices as high as 7.60 here I was hoping to replace it with an AWD/4WD hybrid pickup but looks like there won't be any available in the next couple of years so I may go the hybrid suv/utility trailer route.
