    Happy New Year all!
Tomorrow morning is lottery time for shotgun zone in the ol watershed.
Sort of like wheel of of fortune.
    Hope this don't happen...

    Gettin tougher now for permits.
Couple years back it was a split season with 150 permits issued for each.
Now it's no longer split and permits are 170 issued.
Only crowded days are the opener and Saturdays. For the most part, I have the area I hunt to myself.

The watershed is a unique area. Falls under state forest status , but the water company makes the rules.
Example would be lesser weapons. Ct started a few years ago on state land, but not on water company. Shotgun only, no muzzleloaders.
They also have large blocks which are archery only, which is cool. Archers can also venture into shotgun blocks but not during shotgun season, and back again when it closes.
Strange area, close to 5000 acres total but loaded with deer and they want them dead, so I oblige.:humble:

like the Quabbin Reservoir hunt just north of you. Shot one down on a small peninsula late one day. Dressed it and hung it to retrieve the next day. Biologist roped some poor techs & marched us all back out there in the dark! Id only ever been out there that day. I can’t believe we found it. It was pretty late when we got out and I never put in for that hunt again. I also had a scope mounted on dads “sweet sixteen” for the cause. Gunsmith tried to stop me. Swore that hunt ruined more guns than anything else! I love that thing with the scope and 5 Brennekes!

yes Sir. they are not as easy to get as some may think. we let alot of young rack bucks go for management only because we have a large amount of land and the land owners around us do the same on large acreage.season goes out Sat. i thought it was this past Sat. deer are hearded back up like pre rut. groups of does. this one was with 4 other bucks. its all about food sources now here

Finished the season yesterday eve with a good hunt. Had a cold north wind that got deer on their feet a little early. Saw a dozen or more and 4 bucks. Knocked the safety off twice but didn’t shoot, have done enough already I guess. Got the last buck euro done yesterday too. Happy new year.
