Maybe ask them to remove the engine out of your 16, cut a hole in the floor board and you can go Flintstone mode. Hybrid batteries cause a ton of pollution. unfortunately most shoe soles are still made with petrol, you may want to consider full Flintstones and go bare foot.

Because GM can over stress there 4 cylinder . After all it’s going to blow up or burn oil in 4 or 5 years . They have been down this road before many times . At least now it’s junk that maybe looks a little better . Turbos put lots of pressure on a motor . If I am going to trust any company with a turbo motor it would be Toyota before GM all day long . My guess is that the turbo in the Tacoma is under tuned so it’s longevity is better

Agreed however, looks like GM has put lots of effort into their 4 banger turbo. It's almost designed like a heavy duty diesel. Quite impressive. Can I trust GM long term? I dunno.

GM does not have a good track record other than the LS engines.

Jury still is out on the Toyota, the Tundra engine failures is not off to a good start.

    Looks beefy!

You're saying a BEV that did not need to be plugged into charge would not be a better alternative to a BEV that has to be plugged in?

I am surprised that no one has brought a wireless charging mat that you drive over and park on in your garage. The tech is already out there.

How is plugging in a car different than filling a car up with gas or diesel? It's the same mechanism no?

I like how he thinks he speaks for every PHEV or EV owner.

My biggest complaint is range anxiety and charging time, not the menial task of plugging in my car which could not be any easier.

LOL, it's like complaining about having to grill my hamburger before I eat it. Why can't it just be ready to eat? I don't understand some peoples logic.

It would be nice to not having to plug it in, just like a phone, the cord is a pain…just like going to the gas station.

They said it for the Tundra, (you can look it up) why would the Tacoma be any different? Current Tundra owners are complaining that it isn’t achieving epa ratings.

Good luck getting those numbers with a lift and larger tires. manufacturers/epa get their mpg numbers in absolute perfect conditions on flat ground, with street oriented tires, not with lifts and mud tires. Guys thinking the hybrid is going to get 27 mpg are dreaming.

    IMG_4611.jpg

You don’t even have to dig too deep to see the hybrid in the Tundra doesn’t get better peak mileage, it is right on Toyota’s website with super easier to read info graphic. A Tacoma’s mpg rating nearly the same as a Tundra, really think the hybrid version is going to be all that different???

If there is a market for it, companies will make it. :D wireless charging matt for an EV makes a lot of sense, especially in today’s world where most people couldn’t be bothered with doing menial chores.

The two have to be in close proximity for proper coupling.

Again, the two have to be in close proximity for proper coupling. You could raise the matt, or more likely drop your coil down on the matt.

I don't believe my V8 engines require this doodad. But I'll read the manual to be sure.:dancingbacon:

Stay with me, it goes off the beaten path but is related:

GM's parent company is investing heavily on hybrid battery technology. stellantis (parent company of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Alfa Romero, Maserati ect) are doing the same thing except making deal with rare earth companies in the United States.

Toyota, like GM, gets most of their rare earth minerals from China.

If i had to guess the turbo hybrid is more of a temporary transition to a long lasting battery electric vehicle.

The thing is going to be supply, demand, tariffs, and global production in general will be key factors on which brands chose the right partners.

China is heavily invested in The United States largest rare earth mines. Stellantis took a different approach going for the second largest mine but less chinese ownership.

and really vanguard, blackrock and the other known powers own everything that is publicly traded.

point: 4 banger turbos are an awkward tweenage phase going to be surpassed by electric trucks that will probably be worth having, but will never have the same feel as original gas and diesel engines and people will probably even miss the turbo 4s at some point.
