Our township is down to one road worker. They can't hire a 2nd because the supervisor who oversees things rides their ass when unnecessary. At least that's what the one road worker tells me. He seems credible. Long story short, we're basically on our own if we have a big snow storm while the one worker hits all these rural roads.

    Easy fix.
    Get rid of the supervisor.
Management always ruin work flow and productivity.

He's an elected official, called a supervisor. That's what they call those who run townships in my state. Most people have no idea about the inner workings of townships and their leaders. Few run, less is known about them, other than a sign during election season. He was just re-elected last November. Ran unopposed. According to the road crew guy, the police chief quit recently for the same reason. Going to the monthly township meetings is a waste. They give you the run around and the few residents that are there can't make a difference. There's about 3000 residents here and most are busy leading their lives. Maybe when roads aren't plowed and people have to get to work there will be some outcry. Me? I'm retired and have 4 wheel drive.

You should run against him in the next election. It's not like you have anything else to do, you're retired...

    Happy New Year to all.

My sister made it back to her place in Los Angeles. We had a great visit.

So, this morning I got a call back from the company I had an initial interview with before Christmas. The hiring Manager likes me a lot, I am now scheduled to interview with his Manager on Friday January 5th. If that one goes well, I might be getting an offer from this outfit maybe next week? The hiring manager said he wants to get this position filled in early January, so I am very hopeful!

    Thank you :)

Being as how I haven't really been around for the last 3+ weeks much, I'll assume you have fully moved into your new (temporary) place, and that all is hopefully going well for you.

Actually, I have plenty to do. Maybe when you retire some day you will see what I mean. :D As far as being some elected rep for a township, no thank you. I have no interest in that. I've never had the desire to be on some power trip. The truth is, support for what goes on is minimal and I think there is a clique here that supports each other, the families that have been here for centuries. Although I have lived here for many years, I and my wife are outsiders, with neither of us having any ties to the community before we moved here and I've always kept to myself so I have no presence in the township. I am unrecognizable and anonymous. :anonymous:
