Hopefully! I'd like to XC ski, skate, and fat bike a few times this winter.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Have any of you in here been to Copper Harbor recently or know someone who has? Only reason I ask is I was thinking about heading up and spending the night but only if the road to the tip doesn't have too deep of snow.

I’ve been several times, most recently 2 years ago. I would not try it in December, they can get a lot of snow overnight. This is the snow gauge down by Houghton/Hancock

Motels should be open for snowmobiling, if you go check out Brockway Mountain Drive, awesome views, especially for fall colors, too late for that.

I appreciate the suggestions, I go there often, it's just been a very unusual winter in northern Wisconsin with almost no snow on the ground and I was wondering/hoping that it applied to copper harbor as well. Guess I'll just have to drive up and find out lol

There's really nothing in the way of snow up there right now. You can check some webcams in the area. I'd probably estimate an inch or two and melting.

I would agree. I think it was 2011 with the mid or late February “snowpacalypse” storm we had gotten. I went to snow blow the driveway (with a 30” unit”) and the snow was over the opening of the machine nearly bogging it down at times. Our taco was an incredible truck to drive through all of that mess.

:fingerscrossed: Weather app says chance of light flurries this afternoon. I only had literally 1 good day to shovel the pond hockey rink last year…Not looking much better this year..Hoping for a wicked cold late winter

Last year we got one of those wide shovels they use during media timeouts in hockey games so we could shovel our lake. We have not had a good reason to even assemble it, sadly.

I want one of those but can’t justify for said reasons. Once it’s consistently cold again maybe I’ll pick one up.

The weak edge on a snow shovel leads to a multiple punches in the gut with rough ice and takes forever haha. And the snowblower leaves an inch or two of snow and requires shoveling so it’s pretty much double the work

    do you flood your rink?

No, we have a family cabin on a lake so we have to just hope the underlying ice is smooth or it makes for some interesting skating. I also currently live in an apartment complex but the goal is to one day have a back yard rink.

As a delivery driver, this has been fantastic for this time of year, only 45 days of hell to come, maybe, instead of 90 days of hell this winter..

I think it was the blizzard of 68’ I remember best. I’ll have to google it, do they still not plow the side streets in Detroit proper. They didn’t when I was a kid.

Nope , lucky if the main drags here are done . They usually plow Gratiot , but south of 8 mile they don't. Usually go out with a tow strap and yank people out for 40 bucks a pop . 68 before my time , but I do remember riding in my dad's truck in the late 80's with snow rolling up over the hood . And it was lifted on 38's too . crazy thinking about back then , and how much snow we got and today we haven't even gotten anything yet
