Usually you'd just cut the hose and re-make the connection. What does it look like on the hose end/inflator side?

3.5 years.... That's not bad for dry rot.

Remember, the EPA has a lot of stringent materials requirements now across almost all industries. Automotive is hit especially hard, and the downside is the cost of "saving the environment" is having everything wear out and break sooner because um.... Logic. Or something.

But for real, that's not bad. And 50k.... Them tires got another 20k in them I bet :D

Just remember, you get what you pay for.

What kind of inflator? I made a custom hose for my Viair. So, you might be able to replace the whole hose, if nothing else.

As for repair maybe a tire patch kit, and then wrap it with some tape or heat shrink wrap.

Maybe it's just because I pay closer attention to things now, but I don't recall having tires dry rot so quickly in the past. To be fair, I've driven them on saltwater beaches, and on salted pavement, and I don't use any products to protect them from UV, etc.

Treadwear has been great! I'll probably get a solid 75K before they're worn down. I still want to replace them next winter, preferably with something lighter and more street focused.

Yeah, the logic of environmentally friendly products that end up in a landfill faster reeks of government decision making.

What's the datecode on the tires? Do you store them indoors or outdoors? Could be that tires were old stock when you purchased them. Could be that because you only use them part time they rot faster too (counter-intuitive but more usage allows the tire to "lubricate" itself internally to the rubber compound). Could just be a bad batch and you got unlucky. Lots of factors but I agree they shouldn't rot in 3.5 years up here.

I'm not sure what the date code is. But, those tires had just hit the market when I bought them. Mine were the first set my shop had seen.

The connector that is on the hose is crimped. I don't have the know-how or the tools to make a crimp.
I've had this hose for 18 yrs. Probably time for a new one anyway.

Cut the hose below that damage, get a 99 cent barbed fitting and worm drive clamp from the hardware store, and Bob is your auntie.

I called the Parker store. They won't repair a used air line. WTF? When I delivered truck parts, we had them put new fittings put on used hydraulic lines.

For what those hoses cost that $3 harbor freight splicer mentioned will work just fine.

Hopefully the G003's handle better on wet surfaces than these X-AT'S do...not liking that and still haven't had a chance to try them in a 'good' snow.

They should be better. They're much less aggressive and have a lot of siping. I had a set on my '03 and they were very good in snow.
