It could also be because you typically get more truck for your money and also get better gas mileage than the tundras. o_O

pretty unlikely that they sold exactly the same number in 22 and 23, like your wrote in number and the screenshot suggest

Pretty crazy. Especially since they were selling for MSRP or above. So what was the Tundra’s problem again? Are we still blaming low sales on covid? :D

Full size truck buyers tend to be very brand loyal to the American manufacturers, not even sure why Toyota tries to compete.

Well they are the largest vehicle manufacturer in the world so they probably sell enough

Yeah, plenty of other models that make them money.

Land Cruiser US sales were dismal for years and they kept it around.

I think Toyota has the Tundra in the line up because they want to give customers more reasons to go to the showroom. They get a decent number of Tundra sales but many come to check out the Tundra and end up with the less expensive Tacoma. Soon they'll be checking out the Tacoma and end up buying the less expensive Stout.

. That Kirk guy did a video in the last couple weeks that I watched and he thinks it's a while before we will see that truck , possibly 3 to 4 years

If you give someone only one option and they don't like it/can't afford it, you get zero sales. If they end up with a less expensive vehicle, at least you get some profit.

Toyota doing this has worked before as Tacoma is the best selling midsize truck in the country for a while. Seems their strategy is working so why change it.

While Tacomas are great, 2 factories versus 1 kinda make it impossible for any other brand to catch them. Same with Ford, they have 2 F-150 plants, Tundra cannot compete with that ever, just from a volume standpoint.

It's not a zero-sum game. Not all Tundra sales come from potential Tacoma Sales. The Highlander didn't significantly reduce 4Runner sales. More models, more sales.
