Lots of EV drivers complain about going to the gas station. I doubt if they like plugging in their vehicle either. Not having to plug in, would be better than having to plug in.

Shit, people can't even be bothered to drive themself they need autopilot. Or a driverless taxi.

Have a bunch of clients whose kids are teenagers or in their early 20s that refuse to get their DL license.

Find that shocking since I couldn’t wait to get mine, started driving when I was 10 to help haul firewood driving around our property. Times have certainly changed, young generation can’t be bothered with much.

I'm not even worried about that, I don't have the 200+ mile daily commute that some anti-ev people seem to have, lol!
My only complaint is when charging towers are down. I can't wait to be completely done burning gas to be honest.

As for the topic of this thread, I am waiting until 2026 so any kinks get worked out, if my 2005 holds up that long that is.

you are right there. And I am highly considering that as well if I can find what I want. I just really like the idea of the hybrid model and design features of the new generation just trying to justify it all and what I need. Regardless both will be a better ride then my second gen I feel like. Granted I Loved that truck had no rust issue and it handled everything like a champ.

Autopilot is more or less what the new Tacoma has. Autopilot is such a dumb name given it is just the standard safety features that most manufacturers have now.

    I'm serious.

I don't know much about hybrids but I see the numbers other hybrids are getting and comparing that to the "27mpgs" that the Tacoma Hybrid might get is shocking. What's even the point of making it a hybrid then? Just for more power? What, to compete with bigger trucks? Why can't it get numbers like ~40-50mpgs? Like these:

    https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Pow...e=Hybrid&srchtyp=yearAfv&rowLimit=50&pageno=1

    (Legitimately why?)

Because one is shaped like a 4,400 pound brick. While the other is a large dust buster shaped 3,100 lb car.

What is the efficiency of wireless charging versus wired and how willing are people to accept slower charging rates?

Unsure but since we are not talking about a few watts like a cell charger then I am wondering if we can stick a hotdog under in and roast it while charging.

There are plenty of articles and videos out there that representatives from Toyota said the hybrid doesn’t increase mpgs, it is for power. You can see right on the Toyota website. The Tundra Hybrid’s hwy mpg rating is exactly the same as the non. The Tacoma won’t be much different.

I also said Tundra owners complain about it not achieving epa ratings. Gave a snippet from a long term test vehicle from a reputable source. Not quite understanding what issue you have with that. You seem like an angry dude who likes to troll is only my guess. You seem very angry with me for some reason, may I suggest you put me on your ignore list if I piss you off so much.

No I don’t see that increasing efficiency all that much, especially for the price the hybrid commands. There are literally no savings both in fuel or cost.

The only trim that has a decent HWY mpg is the SR 2WD, plus a low msrp. But no one wants that one…nor do they talk too much about it.

Does anyone have the lowdown on the different i-force engines being offered? I imagine these are used on other Toyota models.

The new hybrid Sequoia doesn’t have great gas mileage either and it seems like owners struggle to meet the epa ratings. It’s a silly use of hybrid technology.

Yeah I don’t quite understand what is up wastingtime’s ass. Article after article, and video after video out there stating the hybrid doesn’t increase mpg. Think the issue is more about me than anything, which is ok by me as I rather enjoy pissing people off. :D

It is a silly use of hybrid technology, especially since Tacoma owners have been begging for decades to increase fuel economy. Makes sense in a Porsche 918, not so much in a pickup, and the kicker is tow ratings go down 500 lbs with it. Don’t see the point other than power bragging rights for the chest thumping Bros, screams insecurity, think halo vehicles are dumb… but that is just me. :)

They are used in other applications like the Highlander, but tuned differently, haven’t been out there long enough to know if they will have long term reliability.

Specs if you missed them. For the assuming most reliable I would choose the lowest power base.

Now you are comparing a Toyota’s mpg to a Raptor and ZR2? WTF? We are talking about the mpgs of a hybrid Tacoma and Tundra to the non hybrid version.
Why does talking about trucks make you so mad?
