I know how much Adam likes to make Christmas ornaments for his coworkers with them, I've seen his intsacart pictures.

Struggling today folks. Had a boat that needed bunks replaced. So I requested the parts. And was given two 2×4s out of the trash... had to pry them apart and remove nails to get my lumber. :boom:office folk didn't see the issue

    Talk about gettin' it done...

Less than an hour after the tank installers left the propane truck arrived and filled them up. They came about 20% full so the furnace would have run for quite a while.

    151.1 gallons @ $2.698 = just over $400.

    Energy geek stuff:

    Fuel oil - 138,690 BTU/gallon
    Propane - 91,500 BTU/gallon
Multiply propane use by 1.52 to equal fuel oil use

    $2.698 x 1.52 = $4.0872 - propane equal to fuel oil cost

That number doesn't tell the whole story though.
Conventional oil furnaces max out at about 82% efficiency, mine was from 1969 and was massively oversize so I had it fired way down. We can be generous and say it achieved 75% efficiency (I doubt it) which means at least 25% - $1.02 of every gallon went up the chimney.

The propane unit is 95% efficient so only $.20 is going out the PVC exhaust pipe.

Good spot for a drain plug... 20240104_113937.jpg
The official procedure is to remove the lower a arm to access the drain plug.

I looked at a different forecast site and they aren't showing us hitting the 50's. Not sure which is going to be correct.

    Probably neither.

The video went about as good as I expected.

Boss double booked meetings, but didn't tell anyone he wouldn't be there, so 30 of us stood outside for 15 minutes (for the record, the windchill then was 7) before we said screw this.

Got back to my desk for 3 minutes and a text come in that we're going to try again at 11:00, which was in 4 minutes.

Walked back over, set the tripod back up, got the camera out and focused and the battery light was red. It was a fully charged battery. The cold just completely tapped it. Switched out the battery, which was barely better and shot 4 takes.

Back at my desk, the only one of the 4 takes that is even remotely usable is the first one. For the other 3, the SD card and battery were so cold that they has so much delay, they were done talking before the camera even started.

    :goingcrazy:

I was supposed to leave at 12:30 to take a kid to their appointment but asked my other kid to take them instead.

Then I went home because I'd already turned in my leave request and have had enough for today.

And I still can't feel my fingers.

I started up a 1000hp hydraulic power (two 500hp NEMA D electric motors) unit one time for testing. I messed up and started it under full load, which is, well, a whole lot of locked rotor torque... I browned out half of the town and blew a transformer. My own little dimmer switch I guess.
And, I told you guys i'm not electrical...
