Just enough to look kinda cool.
Yee-haw, that is a wild ride i don’t ever want to experience. Very glad you’re walking away. Those wheel studs look like they had some force behind them sliding that far in front of the truck.

We got a new boss a couple of weeks back. Today he had his first safety meeting. Among the topics was the mandatory lunch break that none of us take. He says we need to take it right in the middle of our busiest part of the day. Nobody's happy, nobody wants to lose customers or listen to those that are pissed off because we couldn't make it there in time.

I'm pretty sure retirement just moved up from April to Feb. I'm so tired of this shit. I know some have it worse, but ...

Man my thumb is really sore this morning. I go back to the clinic for follow up and therapy this morning. Then in to work and paperwork, had to Wright out a statement last night I'll turn that in. When I turn in the photos I'll also add this is why you don't keep 17 year old trucks on the road. I'm still thanking God that I'm still here, it could have been much worse. And this was only at 25 to 30 mph. It was the weight. 2,000 lb bins of wheel studs can't be stopped when set in motion. They went through the trailer wall like it was tinfoil.
I'm still very traumatized from the whole thing.
But I'm up, having coffee and forcing myself to get back at it.

Good morning driver's as seen from yesterday we never know when or where a bad situation can happen. Best thing of all is Greg is still with us.

I remember once I had 40K in the box and it was 5am, blew out a steer tire at my fast pace of 65 mph with hazmat. Fun times!
Remember gang steer tire blows use your trolley break cause if you use the peddle it stops the front and kiss that tire good by and down on the rim you go.
You don't need to ask me how I know.
This happened 2x's different issues that were not lack of pre trip inspection.:argue:

Yeah brothers I do my pre trips and post trips everyday. Your not always going to see what's going to break. I can tell you this happened so fast I didn't have time to grab the trailer brake. I was fighting the wheel trying to regain controll of steering. It was futile. I have been replaying the crash in my head over and over. I really don't think I could have done anything to save it. More and more I think the spring hanger is what broke and the whole axle shifted on the left side.

Yea you can't predict equipment failure. As long as the DOT man said not your fault roll on.

Yep, once that axle folded back your steering was going where it wanted no fixing it. You did the best you could and even kept shiny side up!

Don’t be afraid to use therapy and keep it in your back pocket whenever you start having trouble again.

Thumb is really sore today. Employer and boss have been really cool with me, making sure I get my therapy and doctors visits etc. Boss is gonna keep me out of a truck for a couple days to decompress and get my head right and heal up a little. I said thank you for that and that I am still pretty shaken up about it. So I'll drive a forklift here or something to get some hours.
The state police called my employer and confirmed it was the spring hanger that broke and that it was a mechanical failure and that the driver was not at fault. Company GPS shows I was well below the speed limit. So all is good, I just need to heal up a bit and keep on trucking.
    Scary as fuk experience though!

@woodtickgreg, glad your ok, damn what a day! I'm thinking you get that bench built you might squeeze that retirement date just a little!

Helluva job on covering your butt- proper pre trip, below the speed limit, able to pass a whizz quiz.

They’re probably thinking you might sue their asses off, maybe that’s why they’re being really nice. Glad you walked away.

All I ever ask for is to be treated well. And they are letting me drive a forklift to get some hours so I'm OK with that.
And I'll never have to drive that p.o.s again!

So the theory now is you’re going to start wrecking all the trucks so they are forced to buy something worth a shit?
