I'm years away from starting any of the retirement withdrawal processes so not real knowledgeable in that dept.
To maximize SS benefits it's best to try and use any 401k, IRA or other pensions, 1st and push off SS as long as you can.

Hive mind, need some discussion input. Bought these beefy 2x4 D ring mounts from RoughStuff. Were to mount them is the question. On the taillight bar is fine but I would have to gusset to the frame mount as it is only 1/8 steel tubing (one on each side)

    IMG_0891.jpg

or, cut the tabs off and mount them to my Hammer Hangers. These are 1/4 steel and reinforced with an additional bar up to the trailer receiver. Super beefy. Don’t loose any departure angle this way. Decisions decisions…

I'd say that while you are probably safe going off the beefy hammer hangers, it's still asking for trouble. Hangers will fail before that honkin big D ring and if those get jacked up you might not be able to drive home. If something goes wrong with the taillight bar it doesn't affect driveability.

My math might be suspect but here goes. If you start collecting SS at 62 yrs old (like I did) your monthly payment does take a hit. If you wait until you are 70 to collect, you get max monthly payment, but you will have to live to 84 to make up the difference for the money you could have collected starting at 62. There is no guarantee that you will be alive tomorrow. I've never seen anybody over 80 on the trails.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I ran the numbers and yes, it will take until almost 80 for it to negatively affect me, even starting at 65. And taking from my 401(k) to cover until taking SS at a later time doesn't make sense. Why pull $2600 a month from my 401(k) to gain $27 a month in SS benefits?

I was thinking of my mother's situation.
Stroke at 60 has her in a nursing home.
She didn't have much for retirement or 401k. Was beneficial for her to hold off on SS.

Good point. It would take a MASSIVE pull to damage the HH's especially since I have them reinforced up to the receiver. That said I do make some (possibly poor) decisions that require extraction... I am not as excited about the tail light bar, but it is easier to get to, easier to repair and with gussets should be strong enough.

Same here but I'm going to try.

I just mentioned my mother's situation and I had to bury my father when I was 28. He was 51. (alcohol)

Dam…only in Wisconsin. I buried my dad when I was 21 for the same reason. On the other hand, my mom is a healthy 82.

Mount them to whatever your tow bar is mounted to. Our trailer hitch. Or if you don't have one... Make one :D

This kinda math.... WTF can't the system be simple.

The way I drove in my teens and twenties, I didn't think I'd make it to 30. The way I played and partied, didn't think I'd make it to 50. After 50 I thought 9uck it, I'm in overtime. I knew all of my grandparents. Dad's dad was 1st one to go. He was a month short of 80 years old. I was 32. Pack-a-day Lucky Strike straights smoker. Great-Gram (my dads grandma) made to 100 and his mom made it to 99. My moms folks went in their mid 80's.

I come from some very good stock.

I was going to suggest mounting them as close to in line with the frame rails as possible to minimize any twisting forces during recovery. This looks good to me because if a dynamic recovery goes bad it's not going to damage the spring perches.
