Metal roof is usually cheaper from what Ive seen/experienced.

 

Can you put a metal roof over of an existing asphalt roof, just curious.

 

Yep, sure is. Ice and water shield the entire thing.

I talked with a couple folks, and namely one of my coworkers who had his replaced with metal this summer. Similar sized roof, simple, no bump outs or anything just like mine. Ran him 17k, although he did use the hidden fastener metal

 

Thanks, I don’t like the idea but was just curious what people are doing.

 

That's not an unreasonable quote. Roofs are expensive.

Standing seam is always a crapload more money. Install is more tedious because the pieces are only a foot wide usually and a PITA (we were gonna do it and just did exposed fastener instead because aint nobody got time for that).

 

Completely redid my roof 10 years ago. Replaced about half of the plywood, extended some of my eve’s/overhangs, used top shelf shingles. Never looked into metal, everyone said it was to pricey. Kicking myself in the ass now.

 

I don't plan on owning this house for 10 more years, so it's just a toss of money IMO. If it were my long term home, definitely metal.

Woo, got elected as VP for the snowmobile club I'm a part of. It was a close vote since there were three positions available, and only three members in the club....

Very small town. It's basically a participation award. We only have four club sleds and two drags for them. The trails are too small for a groomer
