I wonder why they have such a large area crossed off. Space looks wide enough to hold that spot and still have room between the spots for disability access to me.

I've never understood why they put those strait spaces there either. Huge waste of space IMOP.

Looks to me that the space on the left of the Taco is straight in, with room for side access, and the one on the right is lined for parallel parking, with room for a rear access situation.

For the rear access lift. But primarily for a short bus ("cut away") ot a large van with HC lift to park in. They can pull in and out straight using the larger hashed area (need a large turning area for a bus). Smaller cut-aways do not require CDLs (under weight and seat limits), and are used by nursing homes and long-care facilities. My late wife used to drive one.
Cut-aways are roughly double the length of a regular car, so they have to be parallel parked.

Nursing home patients and folks in long care facilities do like to go shopping and walk around in public. Depending on a facility, once a month ot every 2 weeks is common.

If it's an end spot as shown and it's dead space as shown... I see no issues here :anonymous:

That doesn't explain why their vans won't fit in the normal handicap spaces. They put that space in but it's open to all who have a HC placard or plate, the likely hood that it will be open when patients come do their shopping is 50/50 at best. I think the store patrons would be better served if there were two more spaces for HC parking.

Can you fit a gallon of milk in a beer can? I did not think so.

Their vehicles are double the length of a regular car/van/truck. They are NOT modded minivans , they are 18+ passenger cut-aways.
They would block the travel lane if they were to take a regular car spot. Plus they are a foot wider than a minivan.
Each HC spot on the bus takes a place of 3 regular seats, minimum. You do the math how big those buses are to have 4 or 5 wheelchair locking spots.

So, maybe, instead of thinking of yourself only, think about folks who are less mobile, and less fortunate not to live in their own home, like yourself.

I know how big they are, I've driven large vans and short buses, as well as big buses. If you're driving a vehicle that doesn't fit in a parking space, you drop your passengers at the door and go wait in the back of the lot for them to be done and ready for pickup. Those spaces are a waste because they are never used for the intended purpose. All of the Walmarts and the Sam's Club here have those spaces. I have never seen one used by an oversized HC vehicle. If they are used at all they have a regular sized vehicle in them. The biggest vehicle I've seen parked there is a regular 18 pax van, and they do fit in a regular HC angled space. To have such a space dedicated for the use of large oversized HC vehicles, but no way to ensure they would be open for that type of vehicle when/if they come to use it is a waste of space. As more than likely some little Miata with a HC placard hanging on the mirror is going to be parked in it when they get there.

While not really a "parking job"
I'm pretty sure this meets the asshole criteria.
In the Walmart parking lot of course.
The driver's side headlight and quarter panel were smashed pretty good.
